- silvercorvetteExplorerHow do you cook without electricity? If I am stopped at a truck or rest stop I can cook something without firing up my generator. It would be nice to have in addition to a propane stove as an option but I would never give up the ability to cook with propane.
EDIT
They do make portable induction cook tops, the best option is to keep the propane stove and have a portable induction cooker that you can use when you need it. - hersheyExplorerMy wife bought the induction cooking unit and a few of the posts and pans needed to be able to cook on it. I have to admit, one of the best investments we ever made. Really makes a difference in the taste of the meal and cooks cooler and uses much less electricity than one would imagine. She hasn't used the 3 burner stove in over a year since the purchase.
- B_s_BunchExplorerAll way to the NU WAVE we have one for the house and one for the coach. Havent used the coach burner hardly at all. We like it. New Different yes but it works great for us. Try it you just may like it Larry
- mayo30ExplorerUs out west is that frying pan painted steel, how does the finish stand up?
- BobboExplorer IIIWe have one in the S&B house. We love it. The only catch is a magnet has to stick to any pot you want to use, so no Corningware. The surface of the stove, itself, does not get hot. The only heat is what is transferred BACK to it from the hot pot. If frying, we cover the stovetop with paper towels and put the pot on top of them. No problem, no cleanup of splatter. When you are done, wad up the paper towels and throw them away.

What about pace makers?Does the bottom not have to be all flat?
Wifey has a Pacemaker, and they say NO to induction cooktops. - mayo30ExplorerWhat about pace makers?Does the bottom not have to be all flat?
- John_S_Explorer IIJust bought one and will replace the LP stove with it.
- webslaveExplorerIf I had the option of an induction unit in my Cougar, I'd be all over it. Unbelievably quick to heat the pot. Very energy efficient in that there is no heat wasted by heating the air between the flame and the pan and no "extra" heat given off aside from that required to cook the food in the pan... The solid surface does get hot, but, as soon as the pot is removed it cools right off. Never gets hot enough to burn anything onto the top itself; spills just wipe right off.
We have one in our S&B and you couldn't pry it away from myself or the DW :B As mentioned above, a magnet has to be attracted to the pan's bottom or it doesn't work. Early on, there was a dirth of "Induction Cookware" available, but, now there are more on the market and the selections are getting better all the time. We like the Circulon brand, but, any ferrous material will work. - Us_out_WestExplorerLove our NuWave...use it all the time...saves on propane.
