Little red honda

6 years plus into using the Honda 2000e, with aux tank.
A 7 gallon marine outboard style tank,
Question those of you like me using this set up seems I'm seeing more an more issues
Others have with fuel line issues lately curious if others hear or see this too.

Throw in fuel issues with the ethanol getting more an more touchy seemingly

4 years for my setup like you have, they run better now than when new. I used to have to pull start about 5,6 times before they would start. Now, I keep the carb dry and have seafoam in the fuel tank. First pull after 3 months of not starting them! They ran all night running our AC.

FYI, Seafoam is great for cleaning out fuel systems but not so great for storage purposes. I learned this from exerience and a $1000 repair bill on watercraft.
  • An aux tank in and of itself cannot cause you issues. Now if that tank is able to take on water or something then that's different.
Maybe state your question more clearly.
They're pretty ethanol tolerant too. Just noticed one at work, old, covered in oil, never really maintinaed. looks like it is drug behind a truck on the way to work, blinks light says over 600 hrs on it and it's never seen ethanol free gas, in wet Washington.
  • On all small gas fueled engines that are infrequently used, it is important to drain the carb after use. All small Hondas (including the bikes) have a drain valve at the bottom of the carb bowl just for this purpose. Running the motor until it quits still leaves residue in the carb. The left over fuel turns to gunk then varnish, blocking jets and other orifices resulting in hard staring and poor performance. If this is too late and it's already running bad, try some SeaFoam (or other) additive. If you're lucky, it will clean things up and save a carb overhaul.

  • non ethanol gas and seafoam works for me on all small engines including my Honda 1000i.

  • 6 years no issues.

I do run a filter inline from my auxiliary tank and change it yearly.

Also treat every drop of gas that goes into my small engines with stabil.
