Love my 96 gallon aux. tank

:) Hi, unless you got this 96 gallon tank for free, you won't save a penny. A quick search for 96 gallon tanks showed these could run from $350.00 to $600.00 each. At $0.37 per gallon savings and a 500 mile trip at 10 MPG est. (50 gallons @ .37 = $18.50) You will need to travel at least 10,000 miles just to break even.

I purchased the truck used and the previous owner installed the Transfer Flow tank. Yes, they are expensive but the convenience of not having to refuel while traveling is priceless. We stop when we want to stop not when the truck needs refueling. We can also fill up when fuel is cheaper, like I stated in my OP. I've saved probably $500 in fuel by filling when prices are low over the last 2 years. Prices jumped to 2.89 a gallon for diesel over the weekend and we are leaving this Wednesday for a trip. When we return in a week I will still have plenty of fuel left over and undoubtedly have saved even more money by rising fuel prices. I put 6000 miles a year on the truck, only used for towing.

It's convenience folks. Not having to stop all the dang time for fuel and just so happens with prices spiking the guy saved a few dollars.

:) Hi, the Navigator has been retired for a few years and my F-150 gets me plenty far enough per tank. (36 gallons) I carry an extra 2 1/2 gallons for my generator and/or to help someone on the road. (done this once)


Just curious; How much in fuel savings do you need to just to pay for this 96 gallon tank?

You don't need the tanker that one poster suggested - just an HDT for
a tow vehicle with a couple of 100-125 gal tanks (standard equipment)
- and, of course, it will have air ride seats for your tired butt from driving hours and hours.
(See the Escapees HDT forum for "happy tankers", LOL)

The HDT wouldn't even notice the extra weight of the 96 gal of fuel - but your set-up might.

Getting out and stretching a bit is like the advice for long airplane trips - good for circulation, etc!

But since we're on the *road*, (and the sky is not falling), and I'm not going broke due to fuel costs - - for my 3500 CTD, the 35 gal (stock tank) at 12 mpg towing is just fine, so "minus" X it is!..:W
