Owning 2 RV's

Did it for nine years. Outfitted each trailer with camping gear which wasn't cheap. Eventually only ended up using one all the time so we sold the other one.

If you have the cash and it won't cause any cuts elsewhere, go for it. We don't regret having two although outfitting, insuring, and maintaining two RVs isn't cheap.

Yes but not currently. That being said I am in the process of researching pop up truck campers and I see one in my future. Will keep the DP for long trips and use the camper for day and overnighters.

It seems to be more common than I thought. I guess I'll start shopping.

Short answer...yes

Long answer...We've have a lot in Yuma, AZ over the years more and more people leave their big RV there and camp all the way down from wherever they are from. Some put their large RV in covered storage for sun damage, other just leave on lot.

With us we have a small Class C and use it around Pacific Northwest, mostly boondock and out of the way places and have 30 ft trailer for longer trips. Sure like the class C, fits in most anywhere, but sure gets small when its raining after 3 or 4 days. We also like our trailer but get tired of dragging it around and sometimes confined to some parks elbow to elbow. And some places we can't get into.

One couple in park is from where your sig lines says "Toronto". Which is a long trip every year. They have been leaving their 40 motorhome in Yuma for many years now. They picked up an older van and set up for camping. They spend as much time as they can in 70 degree weather camping all the way down. Some winters they have to drive way south before cutting over. Year before last, they were able to cut across when they were still up north camping all the way down. When in Yuma they use their M/H as base camp and explore in their van. When they go back home sometimes they follow west coast up and cut across on Canadian side back home, especially when CA dollar was real weak.

I have a 35' 5th wheel for when Momma was some luxury and a truck camper so I can camp by myself and pull my bass boat. Some moving around of tonneau cover, hitch and misc. stuff but doable.

We have two, but for slightly different reasons.

We live in Alaska and keep the DP Stateside, usually in Arizona, but we parked it last week in St. Louis, MO. We use it for running around the States. We don't want to drive it up and down the AlCan every year (cheaper and easier to fly) and at 40' it's not the most convenient to use in Alaska.

Last summer I drove down to Idaho and bought a Nash 26X TT and brought it back to Alaska to stay up here. I always own a diesel truck so we're now ready to go up here also though now that I'm home, I have a lot of modifications and small repairs to do to it.

We had a 32' motorhome and considered getting a little rPod travel trailer. We finally decided it was silly to own/insure/maintain 2 RV's. We compromised and sold our 32' motorhome and bought a 23' travel trailer. Not as small as DW would have liked, but more livable than the little rPod in bad weather periods.

I also wanted a small travel trailer so I would have the use of the pickup box. I would like to bring my ATV along on occasion.

Many folks do it this way for the exact same reason you stated. Unfortunately, my wife won't let me get a truck camper in addition to our current camper. I keep asking, she keeps saying, "no"!
