Parking my Camper While a Disney Cruise

Ok it’s time for me turn to my friends here on RV.net. The family and I are going on a Disney Cruise in December, and staying at Fort Wilderness afterwards while we do the park stuff. The question is while on the cruise is there any parking lot that you guys have used that will let me keep my camper plugged in. It’s not such a huge deal to keep it plugged in, but would be nice so I won’t have to through whatever food is left over from my trip down from VA. We will be travel for two days form VA to FL, then go on the cruise.

  • Why would you tell the folks managing a campground that you're going away for the week? Just pay for the site, park the trailer and go. If it's not in the rules I'd think it's okay, Kind of a don't ask don't tell policy.
  • Can you reverse the trip and stay at Ft. Wilderness first then take the cruise? That way you will be able to eat up your food and not have to worry about it going bad while you are on the cruise. It might be better all around. The parks can be pretty tiring. You might enjoy the relaxing part of the cruise after the busy time of the parks.
  • Jetty Park is right next to Port Canaveral. It is a beautiful camp ground and would be a lot cheaper than leaving it at Fort Wilderness. They have full hookups. Have fun.
  • Thanks for the response. We called all the local CG but none of them would let us park our camper there for the 5 days. I think I might have to suck it up and just eat what we need before the trip and through whatever is left away.
I know the camper ground is expensive but I heard it is the best CG in the county. It’s only money and I hope the kids enjoy it. They will be 5 and 2.

Good Grief! I just looked up campsite prices at Ft. Wilderness. Dec '13 ranges from $77 to $127 per night. And parking at their lot for the cruise (TV only) is $20/night in addition to the cruise price. That's one greedy mouse. Sounds like Uncle Scrooge is running the business.

I suppose perspective is everything. I find those to be very comfortable prices for WDW. $20.00 a day to securely store a $25,000.00 plus rig in the middle of Florida while you are in the middle of the Ocean?

We Love love Ft Wilderness and will happily (and have) pay $77-150.00 depending on the night.

    Thanks!

  • Last year we parked our TH at Port Canaveral for a 7 day cruise, they did not have electricity available.
We parked outside next to the curb under some trees. Easy in and out with truck and camper. We left our
refrigerator on gas. When we got back on Sunday my 1 TH battery was near dead and the refer was thawing out. I have a 2nd generator which I used to power up the TH battery so the on board generator would start. Waited a while and took off. I removed my equalizer bars and lowered the front hitch so the truck did not have to support all the weight. No other problems everybody was friendly and helpful. WE were the only camper in the parking lot. If I had to do it again I would find a park to leave it in and make friends with a nieghbor to check on unit. But we found out that most parks do not want you to leave your unit for one week unattended. Enjoy your trip. Bob
  • Here's the info directly from the mouse's mouth.
Check in at Ft. Wilderness and drive the truck to Port Canaveral. They have a secure parking lot.
