Quick Disconnect - Water Softener

Recently purchased a water softener for the RV. I have read some posts (here and another forum) referring to quick disconnects for the hoses, which would make setup/breakdown/regeneration go quicker. Can you guys point me in the right direction? I have searched here, but no joy. I am assuming I can get all I need at Home Depot.

  • I've added the quick disconnects too. It makes adding extra hoses and connecting to the camper much easier and quicker. I use them to connect to my home made filter system that feeds the water softener, so I have at least 3 hoses to connect every time I set up and then sometimes an extension to get to the campground water spigot. I also added a Y connector coming off the water softener (with quick disconnects) so I could attach a hose when doing the regen and also so I can wash my rig, etc.
  • Bought what I thought was good stuff. All jazzed up from the salt. Took them off. Plastic is better in this case.

    I got mine a Lowes.
Get the quick disconnect that is sold where the pressure washers are.
The quality is so much better. No leaks. The seals are replaceable.
I have used mine for three years now with no problems.

    Thanks! Will take a look

The problem with most quick disconnects is that they leak. I would stick with the screw on type. Besides, how much time are you going to save?

Not so much worried about time, but the wear and tear on the plastic head. The only negative revies about the softener is the leaking caused by the head cracking, which I am sure is from over tightening. Some Teflon tape should help seal the threads

You can get it at Home Depot or any plumbing supply store. But for the best quality, which I highly recommend, get the solid bronze from plumbing supplier. My Home depot had brass looking, but turned out to be junk.

X2, mine got corroded with lime deposits. Also could not release
if there was any pressure at all!!
