If your vehicle has a steering damper, why not fabricate a solid rod to replace it? You could even make it out of a large turnbuckle, so it would be adjustable.
Anyway, yes, I think your idea has merit. If it is designed to be easy and simple to install and remove, patent it and put it on the market!
