Resume sample for work camping

My husband is soon to retire and we would like to get into work camping for a while but we have no idea how to start a resume for this. My husband worked in the Nuclear Power Plant field which has no value for doing work camping. I know our life experience is what we need to put down on a resume but could use a sample to get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the CAMPGROUND HOST jobs is not a paid thing - most get free use of the camp spot including hookup and you bring your own trailer. Some campground hosts are connected with a way-station stop and get free meals maybe...

Some of the CAMPGROUND HOST required work very hard and I have seen some had to even clean the rest rooms and cabins etc...

It isn't all the same across all of the different campgrounds.

We have thought about finding our favorite spot we like to camp at and sign-up for it. It usually is for a month at a time here around Virginia. A large waiting list too haha...

  • Well, I haven't applied for any of these "jobs" ever, I do a lot of hiring in my current role. I would highlight any supervisory and project management work. This shows the ability to effectively set priorities, build teams and accomplish goals. Working independently is another strength, look for ways to call that out.

In most employment scenarios, references are no longer required (who puts a name down that will tell us something bad?), this would be an opportunity to include a few. I would want to hear from a couple personal references and likely one professional reference.

Last, never underestimate volunteer work and interests/hobbies. This is an indicator that people are interesting and their level of social skills.

    Best of luck!
  • Suggest you go to WorkamperNews.com. They have a very good process that can help you begin and update your resume.

Generally you would need to list your computer experience, your yard care experience, and any experience you may have working with the general public.

While many people who Workamp have risen to upper management and leadership positions in their 9 to 5 X 40 jobs that won't help you take orders and follow them, mow or weed eat, clean restrooms, rec halls. etc. What you need to bring to the Workamping life style is a willingness to work and be a team player with a flexible attitude and a tough skin.
  • If you plan on volunteer positions state or federal most have volunteer applications which negate the need for a resume. They do have a space for a short "about me" space. You can download one from most state or federal volunteer websites. You can most federal sites here: http://www.volunteer.gov/

X2. If you're looking for a paying position at a commercial park, electrical, plumbing or carpentry skills are also helpful.

Please keep in mind that most places already have set procedures that they're very happy with. They just need grunt labor to do it, not rocket scientists to evaluate/improve the procedures.
  • Just Kidding But..... Since he worked at a Nuclear Power Plant, he could double as one of the Street Lamps in the campground!!! Remember, Just Kidding~~~
