- tomman58Explorerlet's see if the Mod toss' this one. Not that he isn't just a little bias. LOL
Diesel prices across US were within 20 cents in most states. Texas one of the highest. States in survey Mi, oh, Tenn, NC,Ga,MS, OK, NM..... so far.
Mileage worst in TX as had 35-40 MPH headwind. lost 3-4 mpg. - LindsayRichardsExplorerI guess, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Regan, Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43 all had it wrong. Who would have ever thunk it? Thanks for straightening us all out.
- FezziwigExplorerIf the Russians are dumb enough to waste their money on manned flight, let them. Looks to me like we sold them a dead horse. All the great advances in space will be made by unmanned flights until such time (years from now) when we have a good reason to send meat into space.
- LindsayRichardsExplorerYou can spin it any way you like, but NASA is a shell of it's former self. We are doing some robotic probes, but Russia and China continue to lead the world in manned space flight. Very sad, but true.
- FezziwigExplorerCape Canaveral is and was just a launch site for heavy duty rockets, which become less significant as NASA shifts from launching meat rockets into near space and towards launching unmanned probes further into space, requiring greater distances, longer delivery times, and greater flight dangers.
Scientific and engineering work thus shifted to Southern California where JPL in Pasadena has the greatest experience and staffing in the world, and access to great universities (built by California taxpayers) from all segments of American society regardless of class, race, sex, or family condition.
I suggest you watch that documentary on the Curiosity Mars rover to see modern NASA in action on the kind of science that produces the greatest harvesting of the kind of knowledge advancement we need for the future. - cekkkExplorerMars rover team may reveal major discovery soon

Washington: The Curiosity Mars rover has made a potentially explosive discovery, but NASA scientists are keeping it under wraps to double-check the spacecraft's calculations, RIA Novosti reported.
Chief mission scientist John Grotzinger told National Public Radio that the possible discovery, gleaned from a sample of Martian soil collected by the six-wheeled vehicle, will "be one for the history books". "It's looking really good," he said.
But Grotzinger, a geologist at the prestigious California Institute of Technology, added that NASA scientists are taking every precaution to verify the data collected by Curiosity, which was launched late last year and landed on Mars in August.
The news follows on the heels of what scientists earlier thought was the discovery of methane - typically a sign of living organisms - on Mars, Grotzinger said, only to determine later that the air likely accompanied the spacecraft from its Florida Launchpad.
He added that NASA would convene a press conference in early December to reveal the results of Curiosity's research.
HERE'S THE SECRET!!!
Gas Buddy reporting gas @ $.09 & diesel @ $.07 on Mars!
Rumor has it EPA has booked 7000 lawyers and assorted loons on Russia's next flight in a desparate attempt to nip potential economic growth on Mars in the bud. - LindsayRichardsExplorerDone by the private sector years ago. The Cape is now nearly a ghost town with most of the NASA folks having had to move away. Unemployment is high, lots of closed stores, and horrible land values. Government and universities were involved in the early days, but now just handle funding now. We even have to hitch a ride to the space station from the Russians now. We have no way to get men back and forth.

Um, Last I checked NASA was still operating. Hans
Alas, I live here and it is basically shut down, shuttered up and thousands of employees moved away. It is just a shell with no future projects.
NASA is alive and well, and recently landed the Curiosity rover on Mars, which is as big as a truck and gathering tremendous geological and hydrological information.
Didn't you see the fabulous documentary on the spectacular landing system that worked perfectly? Designed and built by government and university scientists and engineers. - SRTExplorerGas prices didn't spike for Thanksgiving around here. But the downward drift stopped.
