- frankdampExplorerOnce we're off the road for the winter, we put the MH down the side of the garage. Then we call our agent (Allstate) and suspend the on-road liability part of the insurance. Saves about $175. We can re-start it, even just for a couple of days, and it costs maybe $4 a day while it's in effect.
We have a local agent (5 miles away) whom we've got to know well since we moved to Anacortes 12 years ago. We've been with Allstate since Dec 1971. - SolidAxleDurangExplorer II

Perhaps RVing is not for you if you really can't afford it.
You wish to lie to them to keep the rate as low as possible because, they are "in it to make as much as they can".
But I guarandamntee you'll expect them to pay you top dollar for whatever claim you make.
Nice. - B_O__PlentyExplorer III had a couple of mine parked on a seasonal site year around. I cancelled the collision part and just had comprehensive. My trailers are insured through my auto insurance carrier. Just comprehensive is cheap. I also had a liability rider on my homeowners to cover the trailer in case somebody fell off the steps or whatever. I collected on the comprehensive portion twice for storm damage. No problems whatsoever..

Now imagine what happens in this scenario if you have told your insurance company that you only use your boat in one area, then you get into an accident in a different area. No coverage. My boat policy used to specify where I could use the boat. IF we were going out of that area, I called to have them add the new area to my policy. Whats the point of having insurance if it won't cover you when you need it.
Similar with full time RVing insurance. There are specific definitions of "full time" in the eyes of the insurance company. I'd hate to be penny wise and pound foolish, Save a few bucks now but find out you have no coverage if you have a loss? no thanks. Same idea holds true in this situation. You need to make sure you are covered for the actual way you are using the RV. Period.
My two cents... - Jim_ShoeExplorer

Having worked for an insurance company, you'll find out that lying about how and where you use anything that's insured may lower your premium, but you'll also not be covered in case of a loss. - mslaterExplorerRates vary depending on many factors... tell them you only use your boat on the great lakes vs. Once in a while along with inland lakes. - HeishExplorerInsurance is insurance. You pay for full coverage, comprehensive or just liability. For what my MH is worth, I only have liability ( 1995 24' Four Winds) I loose it I'm not out big $$$$. I am always very honest with my Ins. Co. That's why I pay them, to give me the best coverage at the best price. Why would you not want to be honest with them?

Just shakin' my head over this. - mslaterExplorerThey really don't need to all the particulars if it changes things
- RollandBExplorerIf the agent discloses all facts, it will cost you more. It's not a good time to test your insurance after a loss. Tell your agent the facts, document it, if the carrier has an issue your agents E&O will come into play.
