Sell MH & Toad together or separately?

Have any of you been successful selling your MH and toad together or is it better to sell them separately?

I would sell them separately and did. The motor home is in a market all of its own. The toad has a wide market potential. I would strip the base plate off the Toad and sell the towing apparatus separately, which I did. You will probably have your hands full selling the M/H. The toad will sell easily.

This was my experience also. Many would call and just want the toad, very few called about the MH. Only one called about both, and they were just tire kickers when they showed up.

I don't know about taking the base plate off, that seems counter intuitive to selling it.
  • I would not take the baseplate off the toad. There are people looking for a toad and would love to have it already set up (at least in AZ there was when I sold our toad.
That's what I was thinking and throwing in my towbar, as well.
  • I would advertise separately, but in the motorhome ad, mention that you could also include the toad for a certain price. Of course, if the toad sells separately before the motorhome, just remove that sentence off the MH ad.

  • Would you actually turn down an offer on one if the buyer didn't want the other? I would advertise both separately and maybe offer a "deal" if someone wanted both. Just be aware the RV is going to be multiple times harder to sell than the towed vehicle, assuming fair pricing for both. Therefore, you could easily have sold the towed and not have anything to use with the RV should it take a long time to sell and you decide to use it a bit while it is for sale.
And the towed is going to be less valuable since it was a towed vehicle. Most savvy buyers will realize it probably has 1000s of unrecorded miles on it. Also, toweds tend to take a lot of abuse behind an RV. Personally, I wouldn't buy a vehicle used as a towed unless it was an absolute steal. But thankfully for you, not all buyers are created equally. Good Luck.
  • I would advertise them together, but be ready and willing to price them and sell them separately.
Be sure to put the price in the ad. I really detest "For Sale" ads without the price!
