Shock Absorbers

Some years ago I bought adjustable shock absorbers for my truck that pulls a fifth wheel. They adjust from 1-10 and I do not remember the manufacturer's name but one is leaking and they were warrantied for life so need to figure out the manufacturer so I can write to them and find out what to do. I think the word Rocket is in the model name but could be wrong, they were white with red writing or possibly the piston is red in color. Do you know the name I am looking for? ALSO I want to buy knew shocks if I cannot find this manufacturer and wonder what some of you guys are using for a 12,000 or so trailer on a Chevy 2500 HD diesel truck, want suggestions. I think about Bilsteins but suggestions ??? Thanks!
  • When I had my 2010 F150 I put Rancho 9000's on it. Rear was easy, front not so. I took it to a truck accessories shop to have them done. Had them for less than a year.
One of the rears always seemed to be hard to adjust. One of the fronts ended up leaking bad. Ranchos warranty is really good. I got another front for free. But had to pay to have it installed. When I traded my F150 in on my Ram 2500 the rear one that was finicky was leaking too. Needless to say I went with Bilstiens when I upgraded my shocks on the Ram.
  • Bilstein 4600 are for standard height trucks, 5100's are for trucks have had a lift kit put in them

I run the Bilstein 4600's on my 2500HD. Mine is a crew cab short box. I also run a Hellwig rear sway bar. I really like the Bilstein's. I had a set go bad and they were replaced under warranty. I bought mine from Autozone. They kept a computerized record of the purchase.

You will need your original dated receipt or the place you bought them from will have to have you on file if you want to submit a claim on the Ranchos.

To make a claim under this warranty, return the worn-out or defective product with the dated original receipt to the dealer or retailer from whom it was purchased or to a Tenneco dealer for verification and exchange under this warranty.

notice on the warranty claim form for the retailer to submit, it has to have proof of purchase

Some folks advocate buying from Amazon to save a few bucks. However, if you have a set go bad, if another retailer doesn't want to deal with the hassle of the return/swap out, a person could be out of a shock while trying to get Amazon to work doing a warranty swap out.
  • Yes Rancho's do like to leak...

Go Bilstein 5100 or 4600. Much better quality shock but you do loose the adjustability feature
  • YES I think y ou are right. IS RANCHO the manufacturer? I will google now, THANKS.
