This thread has nothing to do with RV'ing. It is a thinly disguised attempt to advance one political agenda. I don't understand why the moderaters have not close it long ago. - bdpreeceExplorer IIOne of our local TV stations is doing a story on something similar in the Portland Oregon area right now. Seems records are showing up that Electronic Benefits Transfer cards are being used in strip joints, Indian casino's and have been used as far away as Las Vegas in casino's. I would love to go to Las Vegas, wonder if they would give me a card?

I'm having a hard time coming up with recipes for preparing a meal using a site in an RV park as an ingredient. I thought food stamps were for food... - Luke_PorterExplorerWhat is all of this "it's against the law" stuff? It's against the law to speed.
- bigdoggerExplorer IIGreat idea. I am sure that it would be legal if they were used to buy food items in the campstore. The icing on the cake would be if the park posted the fact that they did accept SNAP, section 8 and similar programs on their websites. That would make it very easy for me to cross a particular park off my potential places to stay.

The troll strikes again. Please don't feed the troll. :) - Flyfisherman128ExplorerI don't know how food stamps work but Im assuming a certain amount of funds are put in an account for the user to buy food with.. If your option is to use your food money to buy a camp site or booze or whatever..and choose to eat dog food the rest of the time...that's your option.. As a tax payer, it doesn't affect me.
Heres a story..I went to the grocery store and was behind this guy that bought cases of water. He paid with food stamps. I saw him in the parking lot dumping the water that he just bought. I asked him what was wrong with the water. He said "nothing, he wanted to buy beer but the store wouldn't accept the food stamps. So he bought the water and dumped it so he could get the deposit money to buy the beer"...why not just let him buy the beer? - wa8yxmExplorer III

Should RV parks take food stamp cards in payment for fees to stay in parks.
No, food stamps are for food, not for parking, It would be against the law to take them for other things.
NOW: in some cases they have done away with food stamps and issued a special "Bridge Card" as it's called in some places... The rules for these may be different (I do not know since I've never researched).
If the assistance program covers rent, then,, I'm not sure. would think they should. but if it is FOOD STAMPS. then no. only for food and then only for approved foods (No booze for example). - RaymonExplorer

The waste, abuse and fraud allowed to exist in this program and many others is one of the reasons that many in this nation are fed up with our own government but we are the ones labeled as extreme. Go figure

So, I must have been working too many years---must have missed something? I thought food stamps were for, ya know, FOOD! If a person has an R V, should he/she need food stamps?
I picture a Newmar Class A, driven by a fellow wearing a Tommy Bahama shirt, pulling into a KOA with food stamps.
Sorry, I just had my taxes done!!!
Maybe they camp in a tent? Some RV parks, although not many, allow tents in a certain section of the RV park.
