Towing equitments

I bought this ball mount and received it on ebay. Yesterday, I was looking for the WDH. It seems that with the WDH, you don't need the ball mount I just bought. Did I just waste $125 for nothing?

I don't have the trailer yet. Just shopping needed equitments.

It's up to you to decide if you want to keep it and maybe sell it some day, or sell it on Craigslist and maybe get a good bit of your money back. Some setups don't require WDH but trucks with travel trailers normally do. The idea of the WDH is to replace the weight you remove from the front axle when you apply the tongue weight of the trailer. You will definitely need the WDH for your trailer.
  • Thanks for all the advice, guys.

Ron3rd, I paid at $125, now ship back I have to pay shipping + 20% re-stocking. It's weight about 35 lbs, don't know how much usps would charge for?

One more thing, most people when tow about 5000 lbs +, they would use WDH. If so, how can these ball mount still make a sell when they can be towed up to 10,000 lbs?

Send that ball mount back and get your money back, it's not for WD. WD hitches come with the ball mount.
  • Also, you'd be much better off if you purchased a WD unit that has sway control built in...such as the Reese Dual Cam or the Equal-i-zer and if you're really serious about having absolutely NO sway you can look into the Hensley Arrow or Pro-Pride.

Getting a WD unit without sway control is only doing half the job as now you'll have purchase the small friction sway control bars that are only marginal at best.

    Research, research, research....

I am looking for an used Keystone Outback models either 21RS or 23RS . So it would be about 6000-7000 lb loaded.

    Darn
  • You wasted your money, but maybe you did not. You may find the hitch you purchased useful for another trailer someday, especially if it has a different size ball than your camper. I have 4 different hitches and about 6 balls, used on different trailers.

About the only that may work is the Anderson. But it also comes with the hitch:

  • Sorry but yes, you probably wasted your money. The "ball mount" (also known as a drawbar) will come with the new WDH. It's very specific because the spring bars have to attach to it.
