- MFLNomad IIMy son was just here Monday, to go hunting with me. He drove a long ways to do this, and I don't see him very often. Anyway, I told him, we'll take my truck, as the country land owners are suspicious of trucks from other areas. He said "That's no problem, my license just says VETERAN, not where I'm from". We did take mine, but what person would not welcome a veteran licensed vehicle to their area?
He went on to say there are many benefits available to veterans, even park and camping related. He gets in free at NPs, I think he said 1/2 at SP, which includes 1/2 price camping, or cabin rental. He volunteers at a metro VA hospital, to help vets less fortunate.
I'm proud of him, could go on forever about his military career. Our hunt went really well, but he wanted to be home with his family for V-day.
Jerry - romoreExplorer IIThat was written in 1915, over 100 years ago, and is still very moving. The author, John McCrae was later killed. Armistice Day in Canada is mainly for those who made the ultimate sacrifice although our veterans are honored. I served as an infantry reservist and take it very seriously.
- GaryKHExplorerYes, Thank You to all Vets for fighting for our freedoms!
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. - ReneeGExplorerThank you to all the RV.net forum members who have served our country.

Jim Shoe, I was in Pesacola at the same time. Graduated from AOCS there and got my commisson there. I too never had to leave FL. We defended Pensacola Beach well, it is still there. To all the "real" veterans who fought for us, I wish a very special thanks and a great Veterans Day. May God Bless our military. Rock Hill Manor, thank you for starting a beautiful post, love the flags.
