Washing during drought

Yup, we have some tough air quality laws but I remember the Santa Clara Valley looking like it was in a cloud some days. It was in a cloud, a smog cloud. These days very clear air 98 percent of the time. Now FL is scary to me, bugs the size of birds, giant toothy reptiles and snakes that look like fire hoses, lol.

Fl isn't called the Q-tip driver state for nothing ;)

I acknowledge and applaud CA. and it's regional place in the country's agricultural economics. Not a locavore on that level;).

I have no problem with the global economy on that level.

I know there are some big farms up there in NY, but how long could all those farms supply all the needed vegetables to NYC??

Agreed. The problem the West is having today can be everyone else's problem soon enough. As for the hate I don't worry about it but but then I'm from NYC;).

Some really dumb people are just that way. They learned to hate, because they never knew love or had anyone to care.

I live in the east, but I love California. But no way would I ever live there, or even consider actually going there except for an emergency. That said, most of the people in the other parts of the US don't worry about the drought there, because it doesn't seem to affect them and where they are. WRONG!!! Folks, most all of your fresh food comes out of the vast farms in California. A huge percentage of all the vegetables in the US come over the mountains and to your food distributor on trucks from farms in California. Why all the California hate? It really irritates me that people in the East can be so condemning about something about which the have so little knowledge. The lake is New Melones reservoir. The dam was built in 78. The bridge you see is the old Hwy 49 crossing. 4 years ago the lake was at that high water mark. I cross the lake weekly and this is the lowest it's been since it was built. The drought here is real and has nothing what so ever to do with regulation or government bureaucracy. There simply has been no moisture coming in off of the Pacific.

This just sounds odd to me... I've never washed a vehicle with a hose that didn't have a nozzle attached to it. Is there a special "shut off device", or does just a normal hose nozzle work?

Since you've lived there for so long, you may not feel oppressed. Like I said, oppressed compared to rest of the country. I speak with a fair bit of sarcasm, but the truth is Cali has a great deal more restrictions than anywhere else. I agree that there's certainly a difference between north and south, but the fact is that its still the same state and same rules. They try to govern you based upon the governing needs/greeds of San Fran and LA and San Diego. Here in FL, we have some very restrictive environmental regs, but nowhere close to what you folks out there have. As far as droughts are concerned, we've had our fair share of those, but they don't last. And I've never had to live with water usage restrictions. Then again, we draw our water from a well so the only cost of that is the power it takes to run it. Come on over and we'll slip n slide or play in the sprinkler all day.;)
