Water Faucets at campgrounds

here's another one who doesn't get overly bothered by folks using the tap for other than getting some fresh drinking water. but if they are making a muddy mess for others to have to step it, that's the time to holler for the camp host or the ranger or other authority. saying something yourself only invites belligerence, even from kids.

We hosted a USFS cg in the North Cascades for a few summers. Might not have seen everything being washed at a spigot but I've seen a lot.

Saw a man with nothing on but a thong squatting down in front of the spigot "just rinsing" himself from the top down.

At least I hope he had a thong on.

and no, I did not approach him to mention that this might be against some rule.


Yes, spray bottles of bleach might be a good thing to take with you when you go fill your jugs.

Actually as a kid I drank out of the local rivers when swimming. Brown water with lots of tannin. Good stuff.

OTOH last week I did see a couple cleaning fish at one of the campground faucets. That's beyond ignorant, but since I've set myself a goal of not stressing over things that don't directly affect me or mine I elected to let their closer neighbors deal with it if they chose.

My thoughts exactly. Most state parks and national forest campgrounds have water available at a couple locations in a campground for people to fill up a portable container. They are NOT for filling RVs. As a matter of fact, some national forests have solar water pumps that slowly fill a water tank over the course of a day. An RV with a 90 gallon FW tank would suck that tank dry, leaving no water for other campers to use.

So True. And the government is obviously covering it up. I googled "Deaths caused by poisoned campground water supply" and it came up without a single case. The only possible explanation is the Trilateral commission and the Koch Brothers have sanitized the internet. Thankfully all is well inside the bunker, but I have ordered another dozen rolls of tinfoil to make some more microwave defeating hats in case I have to take up arms against my oppressors.

All you can do is tell them about it, unfortunately they probably won't stop.

Carry a spray bottle of water/bleach in your RV and use it before you get water from the faucet.

Based on some of the posts I've seen over the past month or so, I'm going to start doing the same thing.

I think most of those signs is so people won't be washing dishes and/or utensils at the faucet.

I just spritz the CG faucet with some bleach/water solution and don't worry about it.
