We are talking 11x4 tires. Tinny little things. The entire MOWER is small. It is a 1987 TORO 8-32. 8hp 32" cut. Rear engine mount----will break my toes if I drive into a wall.

If some one was adding water to the front tires, because the rear-engine mower was lifting the front end, they was pulling way too much.

This isn't mine--generic photo from internet----but now maybe some can see why I thought that much water in ONE front tire was odd.

Maybe they tried to fill the tire with a water hose? I'm stumped really.
Pumping up that small a tire with a water filled compressor tank I dunno unless the fill hose had been connected to the drain.
In Nam we had big compressors, in the hanger.Close to the coast, as in throw a rock in the ocean, When they would open the drain we would get anywhere from maybe half a gallon upwards out, every day.
That's why I run Lt tires on my Craftsman, more water capacity, so I don't have to worry about draining the compressor.

When I would put water in my tires I would get as much in a possible. And yes, this was in a un driven wheel.

Why? Counter balance. Some implements on tractors are VERY heavy or carry a bunch of weight. In my case it was a forklift or 3 pt hitch crane.

Yes, that few gallons of water all the way up front made a BIG difference on how the tractor steered and handled.

You read the part about it being maybe a cup, 8 ounces, half a pound, in ONE front wheel, of a LAWN MOWER right???

I'm pretty sure that lawn mower weighs less, including the OP operator, than that stack of suitcase weights does.

I remember they used milk in the tire. It would harden and stay for the winter. They had excess milk many times.

I'm wondering where the moisture can evaporate to in a closed environment like a tire. Evaporation just turns the water into a gas that is absorbed by the air at higher temps, but what happens with the temps fall? Doesn't the water vapor condense back into water? Or am I not remembering my HS physics and meteorology correctly?

I thought of the same thing too.. Talking out of my a$$ again! :) I do that from time to time just to make myself look like an idiot! :)

Compressors don't have the discharge on the bottom of the tank for a reason. Yes, you can get some moisture out of the line of a compressor but in about a zillion tires I have mounted and dismounted I have never found more than a tea spoon or so in them unless it was intentionally put there.

You're obviously not a farm boy! Our tractors often pull things that drag, and drag hard. As-is tractor weight is too often not enough to give the tires the grip they need to pull implements. The fix is to somehow add weight to the axles. Water & other liquids in the tires works pretty good (with accepted problems at tire changing time). Axle extensions with steel weights work godd but the added width could be a problem. Most common these days is additional weights hung on tractor frame.

AnyWHO... I cut the flat tire off the rim, then turned my attention to the one that held air. When I cut it off the rim, approximately one cup of water came spewing out.

HOW did that water get in there?????? I have never had that tire off the rim. It was properly inflated.

Can't help you with the water problem, but when my front tires got dry rotted that bad, instead of buying new Tires, I just went to Agri-Supply, and bought inner tubes for them, approx. $4.00 each, no more problem.
