Will the top of a slide-out handle a persons weight?

For arctic fox owners: contacted mfg with this question. They answered that it is safe to step onto the slideout roof.

I've read a post here about a year ago about somebody stepping through the slide out roof. YMMV

I walk on mine whenever I need to. I use the slide out to place my ladder against to gain access to the main roof. It is as solid as the main roof.

I have to ask, why do you walk on your slide roof all the time ? Mine has an awning over it, and I also can't think of any reason why I would want to walk on the slide roof.

The side of my slide is where I rest my ladder when I go on the roof. When I clean the top of the slide I am all over it sweeping, wiping, cleaning, etc. There is no flex under my feet and the top of my slide has suffered no damage. The top is just as strong as the bottom.

I understand that forums are full of more opinions than they are helpful answers but thats because they're forums. Getting answers directly from the manufactures can prove difficult and sometimes the quality of the response can be worse than a forum. Experience has to be worth something.....

That said, I do have a another question which I guess would go along with my original question..... If slides aren't designed to support any weight then what about camping in the snow? :h

Mfgr & axle recommendations are - under the frame.

Plenty of Trlr owners jack under the axle/s.
(Quicker, easier, only need one jack - or roll-up device, etc.)

Soooo....for the slides - ask your trlr mfgr tech line, -OR- pick whichever advice you choose to believe - from an Internet forum..:C
