2000 Watt Invertor Issues, Need Help

The bank had just come fresh off a charge, and still had a significant amount of surface charge. Perhaps that could account for the seemingly small dip in voltage?

Notice also, after the 20 sec MW run, Vbatt remained down at 12.9v. That's a .13v drop in Vbatt, down from 13.3v... equal to about 22 Ah's. But less than 1 Ah should have been consumed. So it certainly appears it was surface charge being consumed.

It's darn difficult for me to understand how two (2) batteries can maintain that high voltage running an MW for 20 seconds. My 8 batteries dip more than that.

What do mean 'reading back of inverter?' Don't you have a panel?

NOW... I don't know where the setting is, but have you checked where the Low Battery Cutout is set to?

Unless you've smelled smoke along the way, don't assume your equipment is dead until you look at the configuration. It should be 10.5V, but have you looked?

Well I just did the test and here is the results..

Test 1 : After shutting the main electric off and running on batts only the batts read 13.3 volts on meter, even at the solar controller panel, measured at back of inverter the same reading 13.3 volts, also measured my wire length and its 4 feet exact.

Test 2 : Set microwave to run for 20 seconds while reading back of inverter the voltage dropped to 12.67 volts as to tester, it never went under that and the microwave made it the whole 20 seconds, usually cuts off at 8 seconds, so after test the batts voltage went back to 12.90 volts,

Test 3 : We did another test with micro wave and voltage again dropped to 12.60 but than inverter kicked off only after 4 seconds and cooling fan on inverter kicked on.

Am I correct the inverter should Not shut off even with more than 12.5 volts on batts..

Also as I am typing this I have the main power back on and the inverter is on standby, usally I have to shut the inverter off because it wont go on standby but right now it is but maybe a hour from now it will kick off and sometimes throw my GFI..

So you think I don't know what I am doing, my inverter is not acting like it use to..

Time for a new one..

I would measure both at the battery terminals and the inverter terminals

That way if it's the cables/connectors it shows up fast.

Before you decide the inverter is toast, I suggest some troubleshooting. Same advice others have given. Take a multimeter and measure the voltage at the inverter input terminals while your microwave is running off of it. You may need two people to do this since someone has to read the meter during the few seconds that it works. Any other way to measure battery voltage during this experiment would work, but directly at the inverter input leads is the best. If voltage readings drop to below the inverter's low voltage cutoff, then that is the reason your inverter is cutting out and it is not malfunctioning. Consult the inverter manual to see what this low voltage cutoff is. The new batteries may have more storage capacity, but may not be able to deliver the big heavy draw that your old batteries did. A new inverter with the same level of low voltage cutoff will behave the same way, so you really should investigate this before buying a new inverter.

I see how people say I don't know my inverter does not know its history, when I bought this used RV about 2 years ago it worked fine, ran microwave and everything, but as time went buy it started to have issues, mostly in the past few months, the batts were older and not holding charge like it did 2 years ago so I just replaced the batts with 2 100 amp hr batts that give me 200 amp hrs now, more than the other batts but the inverter is still acting up when running the microwave, why did it work fine before with smaller batts and wires but never got better with higher amp batts, yes I could increase the wires and see what happens but with so many other complaints out there about this inverter I might as well replace it along with new 4/0 wires.
