26" LCD TV with DVD Player Power Draw?

The Sharp 26" lcd/dvd combo in our rig's bedroom draws just under 50 watts with dvd playing a movie and about 10 watts less with out dvd in operation. Manufacturer wattage ratings are usually the max wattage and in our case actual wattage during usage being lower than stated.

We have a pair of 6 volt GC batteries from Samsclub and we can easily run tv for several hours without significant depletion of battery bank. Since we did a full LED conversion 3 years ago battery bank rarely gets discharged anywhere near 50% of capacity. We have used both MSW and PSW for tv usage and have not noticed any difference in performance.

Some folks do not understand the conversion of watts to amps or amps to watts. Couple that with an inverter and it's inefficiency factor along with the conversion to DC....
How do you K.I.S.S. that?

If inverters are rate in WATTS and the TV is rated in WATTS, that is simple. And, therefore, a fairly good answer.

Thanks guys for the info. It is for my Prowler which is up in the mountains and I can't access my campsite to check the label due to icy roads, and with no sun on my site until mid-March it will be a while before I can get there. That's why I went online but could not find anything with the dvd player. But thanks to you all I am going to purchase the inverter being its a low draw.

Look up your model of TV on line and read the specs, it will give it to you in watts, what the draw is. Figure out the amp draw in 120V and multiply amps in 120V by 10 to get you amps in 12V.

21 in led TV and standalone DVD/VCR... running through an inverter.

3.5 amps draw to watch TV DVD in standby. (off but plugged in.
4.5 amps draw DVD/VCR playing, TV on.

Did have a lcd TV with the same DVD combo. It added about .3 amps to the draw.

Is the LG in your Nexus or Prowler, or used between both?

Either way, the LG is not drawing much & I assume your not watching the TV all that often.

Since your installing 200 watts of Solar for the Prowler, I wouldn't worry about power consumption for it.

I have a 19" Vizio & separate Panasonic Blu-Ray player that is connected to a "dedicated" 30AH SLA battery. I'll get 6-8 hours of viewing before recharging it. Even though I have two GC batteries for the coach, I didn't want to draw power from them for this purpose. I'm using a 200 watt BESTEK (modified sine) inverter that also has USB ports for charging my cell phone & other applications.

Just a thought.

Recently my 400 watt gave up after running 10 yrs, so I swapped it out w/ a spare 150.
If I had known a 150 would run everything, ( but the kitchen sink) I would never have had a 400. And I never hear a fan in this 150 either.

I'm not knocking a PSW,....except the price, but I don't see it necessary either. In 30 yrs, NEVER a problem w/ a MSW,.....except microwaves don't like them. But for the small stuff, I can't justify the price of a PSW.

I have a 410 watt inverter and a 26" tv/dvd combo in the bedroom and 32" in the living room, I can watch both tv's and both dvd players with no problems.
