30amp breaker triggered

That isn't going to help because your main breaker is 30 amps and if you load your system to more than 30 amps then you will trip the main breaker. You only have 30 amps.

I always use the 20AMP Service from the pedestal whenever I can for things like the Hair Dryer, portable heaters, anything that is used outside etc... The pedestal 20AMP service has its own circuit breaker so should not interfere with the 30AMP service operations.

Every little bit will help keep the main 30AMP from tripping- especially in the heat of the summer..

Like listed above when you add up all of the items used in the trailer it will be more watts than the 30AMP breaker can stand.

Yesterday, I had the ac, electric water heater, and rice cooker going and it kept triggering the 30amp breaker outside. I went to the gas water heater and everything was ok.

A/C running 13.5 amps. Starting 30-50 (But not long enough to trip the breaker less it's on the edge already)
Water heatr 10-12 amps. Figure 12, Sub total 25.5 amps.

That leaves 1.5 amps for the converter and the rice cooker 30 amp breakers will, eventually trip at anything over 27 amps) .

Now.. Some parks might have a brand new 30 (Really 31 or 32) amp breaker that will take that load, some it's an older (now down to say 25 amp) Breaker that won't.

This is in addition to sagging voltage driving the 13.5 of the A/C up to around 19 or 20.

Aahh respectively disagree that you can't use extension cords. It's what amp your coach is not the extension cords. There is a formula about distance and electric but it is so nominal it does not trip breakers. Using 2 high amp draw appliances exceeding your total amp coach is.

If that were the case a lot of us that go to sporting events would be popping breakers every 2 seconds! :B

You CAN use extension cords. But the same rule applies, you just can not turn on those "2" appliances on at the same time. Even the big 50amp coach's have the same problem. They can make coffee and have the AC on but do have to watch adding any other big amp drawing appliances. It is what it is 30 amp or 50 amp no more.

Sounds normal as you were drawing a lot on a weak breaker. That is why, when I believe I am going to be using close to 30 amps, I hook up using my 50 to 30 dogbone. My 30 amp main should hold it's own a lot better.

As for the rice cooker, Small ones use about 500 to 800 watts, not 1500+ like someone said above....unless you have an extra large commercial version.

Perfect post, answers my question about the same thing. Like the OP I also turned the WH to gas and solved the problem, but why did my ex 30amp TT not blow the breaker with the ac and wh both on electric? Does a 15k AC pull that much more than a 13.5K? My current unit is 50 amp, so in both cases when it blew I was in a 30 amp park with the proper adapter.

today, at a different campground, I had the ac and electric water heater and it triggered the 30amp breaker again so I went back to the gas water heater and so far so good.

Is the electric water heater and 15,000 btu AC too much for 30 amps???

AC 12-15 Amps
WH 15A typically
Rice cooker 10-13 amps.
Fridge on AC 3-5 Amps


add in the converter and a few other things and you can see that all three running are way over the 30A breaker limit. Two are pushing it if anything else is on.

Even AC and microwave are pushing the limit if on together.
