After oil change tapping noise

Frustrated
Had oil changed and after that had a loud tapping noise that sounds like lifters that goes away after a couple of minutes, it then runs like a new car until the next morning after it sets all night.

The garage that did the oil change said they used Mobil synthetic blend oil.
A mechanic that i know suggested that I drain the Mobil out and refill with dino and a qt of marvel mystery oil to clean the engine, I did and ran it for a while with no change in the noise.

I drained that out and refilled it with dino because that is what I have always used and thats where I am at the moment with no change in the tapping noise.

2007 Saturn vue
3.5 ltr Honda engine
68000 miles
Oil 5w20

Any Ideas or experience with Saturn/Honda engines would be appreciated.

    Well if we're going to stop having fun and go back to being on topic then here I go.

    A difference between dino and syn is how it flows at temps. Two cans of 10w30 at -20f the syn will come out of the bottle like water while the dino will be like syrup. So it might be possible that the dino will build up more oil pressure sooner.

    In the old days you would pour in that STP honey goop to quiet an engine. Might be what the dino is doing.

    On edit:

    After thinking about it more, and the oil pressure angle, you may have worn main rod bearings. Thicker oil would cover that up some, just like the old STP goop did.

    So does the ticking sound like this?

    I would pull a valve cover myself, to check for sludge. Could be the engine's nasty and the syn broke some loose.

    How's it typically been driven? Long drives or short hops?

    Sometimes you can tell just by looking in the oil filler cap or PCV valve.

    Yes, Mercedes V8 engines are SOHC, single overhead camshaft on each cylinder bank that operates both the intake and exhaust valves. The Mercedes M110 straight 6 is DOHC, dual overhead camshafts one operating the intake valves, the other operates the exhaust valves. As stated earlier SOHC and DOHC refer to the number of camshafts per cylinder head not the total number of camshafts in the engine. Most all "import" vehicle engines are SOHC or DOHC design, including the Honda V6 in question.

    If you're thinking no cam in the head, the Chev V6 based on the small block Chevy V8. Base engine '90s Chevy pickups. Also S10, Astro Vans and more. Typical pushrod engines..

    Reminds me of years ago when a lady pulled into a gas station saying her 60's VW beetle was running hot. Guy asked her if she checked her radiator fluid recently.

    Like I said "correct me if I'm wrong".... OK... It's SOHC not a DOHC......

    Answer me one question.... Where are the hydraulic lifters?
    It is a V6... That means two heads... I can't picture a way for it to be a SOHC.:h
