Awning working backwards after fabric replacement

Hi, Sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot...just replaced fabric on 17' Faulkner awning, put 14 turns counterclockwise on front spring, same clockwise on rear and the tension is exactly backwards...

It may be as simple as the Torsion springs are NOT GOOD.. They are binding internally in the awning tube. It has been over 35 years since I last worked on a Faulkner awning do not remember what the spring end of the torsions look like. Doug
