Charging Issues

Ok, now in the quote above, if you meant house battery instead of chassis battery, then its very simple,... your converter/charger is not charging.

You need to check the converter. Very simple.... 120vac in, about 13.6vdc out. Could be a fuse at the output to check.
Need a voltmeter to measure.

Post the converter model for best answers. Model of the fuse/breaker panel is probably fine.

Have you done any battery work lately? Water levels are good in the battery?

its not the charge solenoid
when on shore power or generator power
its the "converter" that charges the batteries
possibilities are
blow fuses
loose connections
something like the storage disconnect switch is on
or the converter has failed
or the circuit breakerr in the 120v panel is tripped

you need to get a multi meter and start checking voltages
I assume your lights etc work, but run the battery down
meaning the disconnect switch is not the problem
since batteries charge from alternator and house systems then work for a little while, connections should be good,,which leads us back to a converter problem

Hi guys, I did post at first it was my chassis battery. (sorry)
It is my house batteries that will not charge from shore or generator (when generator is running)
The house batteries will charge off of alternator when motor is running. I need order a charge solenoid, and did not help.

So I am lost at this point.

Just wondering if my cables was not tight coming from generator to the batteries if that would be the cause.

A bi directional BIRD as in electronics will charge both batteries when either one is being charged. I doubt that you have that but it solves your issue.

House batteries on shore or gen are charged by the charger. Is that your problem?

House batteries when driving are charged by the alternator using a isolator. Is that your problem?

Help us understand the problem.

First post said you needed the chassis battery to charge from the house battery system. Or did I read that wrong?

To charge the house battery, just plug in the main cord. Or are you saying the house battery is not charging off the alternator? It does take a bit of time.

Trik-L-Start just sends a few amps from the house to the chassis battery while you have the main cord plugged in or the generator running. It is not actually a charger. It just connects the batteries when charging voltage is present. Will not allow house battery to pull down the chassis when camped off grid.

Off grid, you can put a "maintenance charger" on your engine battery powered by your inverter being run off the house batteries.

If you have solar to recharge the house batteries so much the better. Now your engine battery is being maintained (indirectly) by the solar on your house batteries.
