- popeyemthExplorerYou're welcome
- skyhammerExplorerIt is a conventional camper, everything else is a class A,B,C, 5th wheel or bumper pull trailer.

Your RV being a truck camper.......not surprised no roof vents.
But if you have waste tanks they are vented. Most likely via 'Air Admittance Valves' under sink cabinet/inside a cabinet etc.
Tanks have to be vented otherwise you could not drain anything into them or out of them.
Agreed, not a conventional camper.
Shame the OP couldn't be bothered to specify other than ".... My camper..." As if we were supposed to know.
Sorry I went to the trouble to try to help him. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III'skyhammer'

In my camper there is no trap for the shower/tub, it flows straight to the tank. there is also no roof vent. I use the same stuff that is for the black tank.
I don't have odor in the black tank, as I don't allow the toilet to be used.
Really? No trap and no vent!!! :E I have never seen or heard of this before....seems to me that this would be NOT GOOD!
Don't use the toilet? :h Why do you have it then? I've heard others say the same thing and I just can't understand the reasoning behind it. To each his own...I suppose.
As for chemicals in the gray... I'm with others on this. The dish soap that is in there should take care of any odors as long as you use plenty of water to flush everything out when you drain the tank. However, if indeed this doesn't help, then I would probably put a few gallons of water in the tank and add a couple cups of Pine Sol and drive to the next campground with that solution sloshing around.
Good luck...stinky tanks is not fun.

I have never seen a roof vent for the black or gray water in camper, they may exist, but the ones I have seen don't have it. Some have a roof vent for the frig, but I don't.There may be a vent somewhere else, but not on the roof.
The bath room sink which flows into the black tank has a trap, as well as the kitchen sink which flows into the gray tank has a trap.
The only things on my campers roof are the AC and fan vent.
I have never needed to use the toilet so far in 3 years,I find it easier to walk to a restroom or just go outside, I find that easier than dealing with******in a hose.If I need to take a leak while in the camper, I use a jug. I rarely use the toilet in my house, there are no toilets on my 4000 acre ranch except for the house and I am usually miles away from the house.
Any factory made camper in the last 20 years comes with these vents on the roof.
Well, all I can say is that you are wrong and I have the pictures to prove it. The only things on my roof are the AC vent,TV antenna, two fan vents and two skylights.
I have seen lots of campers and never have seen a tank vent, they may exist, but I haven't seen one. I have seen them on trailers, but not on campers.
AC, bathroom fan vent cover and bathroom skylight.
Same thing different angle.
Other side, nothing but AC and antenna.
Another angle, AC, bathroom vent cover and bathroom skylight.
- myredracerExplorer III would remove P-traps and clean them out - easily unscrewed. Air admittance valve under sink could be stuck. Just unscrew the valve and see if it's working okay.
If it smells, something is wrong. We had this happen in a previous new TT with galley tank for the kitchen. I cleaned the P-traps (looked clean) and sucked air through the valve. Valve may have been stuck as the smell went away and never came back.
May be time to give the tank a good cleaning but still, smell should not be coming inside.
Worst case scenario might be something wrong with the tank and it's coming inside around the opening around the waste pipe through the floor. - rockhillmanorExplorer IIMost RV'ers do NOT put any food stuffs or grease down the sink in an RV.
Depending your time between dumps food just rots in a gray tank which is why most do not allow food scraps down the drain.
Also do not leave your gray or black tank open when parked in a CG. Waste and food will just 'sit' on the bottom of these dry tanks making for a stinky mess. Let tanks fill so there is water to move the stuff around and which allows it to exit when you do open the valves to dump.
That said.
I found that almost all grocery stores carry a store brand of lemon cleaner for a $1.00!
When it's time to dump the gray tank I first add half a bottle of this lemon cleaner down the sink, then dump. Keeps the tank grease free and odor free. - ScottGNomadOn my TT I didn't think there was a roof vent for the kitchen grey tank but later I removed the fridge and found the vent was hidden behind it and stopped a few inches below the roof vent.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerWe use Borax and Dawn Platinum about a cup of each.
