Dometic Fridge too cold

On gas mode it will be colder than electric- because of the bypass, it is always cooling, even when no cooling is needed.

Use gas mode....turn it OFF (bypass flame) in really cold temps.

MIne too, freezes, except on electric and 12v. On gas it seems to work OK. This is only the 2nd year of freezing. It used to have a problem staying cold enough in the summer. No worry about that now.

OPs fridge doesn't have a 'thermistor'.........uses a capillary tube in a fixed position.

Moving a 'thermistor' will only affect temps in a fridge that uses a fixed factory preset thermostat.
If fridge has an adjustable temp control.......thermistor needs to be placed where recommended by mfg. (far right fin, 5th fin from right, 10th fin from right, etc. mid-position)

An empty fridge is NOT indicative of how cold it will operate.

Empty fridge will get much colder than one that is actually maintaining food and being open/closed during use.

I think you are worrying about a Non-Issue.

Fill it up........then worry if it doesn't maintain proper temps.

Anyone know of a way to test the thermostat? All I found was to place the thermostat lead into a glass of water, let the fridge run until is is stabilized, and see if the temp of the water is approx 40 degrees.

I will check that the flame goes into bypass and that the electric heater shuts off but I believe they both do. The knob does adjust the temperature, with right about freezing being the warmest it will get. It is totally empty right now and I understand that could effect it. I checked it this morning after it ran all night with outside temp in the low 50's high 40's. It was 30 degrees inside but that was near the fins, so the coldest place. My concern is that that is the warmest that i can get the fridge. If the outside temps get cooler I am concerned it will get even colder.

As many have stated tho maybe I should just put the beers or other harder to freeze items up top. Then keep my veggies in the door or other warmer areas. I assume the middle o the fridge is the warmest?

It might help to locate where the thermistor connects to the logic board, unplug and re-connect. I "fixed" one that way, apparently there was a little corrosion on its terminals. This was on a DM285-something so your design may be different. On the model I worked on, more resistance makes the cooling unit run longer, therefore colder.
