Just picked up our new TT today. Good timing too because the weather's suddenly turned nice. :)The 3" ABS pipe inside the toilet, before it enters the holding tank, has glue hanging down from it around the perimeter, and looks like stalactites. We had this happen in our last TT and it caused major problems and would prevent the tank from draining properly.Rather than drive all the way back to the dealer, is there an easy way of getting something down there to cut the hanging glue off? I would rather not pull the toilet, but even if I did, I don't know if I'd be able to reach down to the bottom of the pipe.Is there some sort of tool, anything, that would work? Maybe attach a knife or saw blade to a pole? Sandpaper wrapped around say a 2" pipe?? Gotta do this before the tank gets anything in it...

If it's brand new just stick your hand in and break them off, or use a wood dowel. Those should be pretty rigid to break easily

Use a 1x2 or similar board. Put a screw in about an inch from the end, let it stick out about an inch or so.Use it to break off the dried glue.

If its before it enters the holding tank, I don't see it a problem w/ draining.Break off any big chunks w/ a stick, and don't worry about it.

Before and after photos. Lots of glue hanging down from the entire perimeter of the pipe. I had to pull the toilet out to get access. I was able to sand the bottom of the pipe so now "stuff" has a nice smooth entry into the tank. I would have liked to get the glue off the bottom of the tank but couldn't and not worth getting a hand stuck in there.When we had the same thing happen our last TT, we had serious ongoing trouble getting the tank to empty because of a similar glue issue. We could only get the tank emptied maybe 50% at best. Didn't matter how much we backflushed, used the tank rinser or anything else we could think of including getting the tank pumped out. The tank would be full again in less than a day and backing up into the toilet. Not going to happen this time. :)

One thing I learned,.....probably 45 yrs ago, you never ever let a "pile" form beneath the turlet !! You do whatever it takes to break it up before it becomes a real problem. For me it is as simple as keeping a stainless steel rod, 3/16 x 3ft long, w handle bent 180 on one end standing in the corner by the turlet.

Conserving water while dry camping on a black tank, are not real compatable, but if done correctly, there is seldom if ever a problem.
I always feel for the nubi who get turned loose w/ a new RV and head out dry camping for a week, and are led to believe that they can live exactly like they do at "home". Its only because of forums like this that you learn the reality of it all, and that taking just a few "very important" precautions, it really can be near to same living at home.

It's because the TP and "solids" kept building up a cone shape directly below the toilet until the cone backed right up into the toilet. All the "fingers" of hanging glue trapped the solids/TP from flowing properly. The tank simply could not get filled up with the blockage in the way and as well, water was not able to get into the tank to dilute the solids/TP and it would not move. Again, after using liquid Drano (as per KZ's manual), the tank drained fine after that so doubt the vent was an issue.

Have now been out camping for 24 hours on our first outing this year. Same make and model of TT and the black tank is working normally and not at 1/3 yet. The old TT would have been backed up into the toilet by now.

I can not imagine why glue at the toilet pipe would effect the draining of the black tank. Even air does not pass through there while dumping, unless you open the toilet valve. Did you have a lot of "paper" hangups while flushing. My guess the slow draining was caused by improper venting (where no air gets to the tank creating a vacumn) or like others said the disc caused by drilling holes into the tank (2-3" holes and one or more were left in the tank. Don't forget, only the highest quality labor is used in making an RV. YEA RIGHT

On our previous Four Winds motor home, the toilet was on one side(curb) and the dump valves were on the other. It had a lot of those glue joints and would not drain well. We bought it used and after a couple times dumping I noticed it. I remember using a long stick to break them off the best I could. They were in the lateral and stuck up from the bottom. Makes you wonder about the type of labor assembling these units. I could just imagine the conversation in the plant," I wonder how long it will take to find this"?

I'm not so sure it was a disc but a good suggestion. We ended up using Liquid Drano (the safe version) at the end of the season and it drained okay after that. There was a "pyramid of p**p" under the toilet that would not go away. My theory is that because the tank is only about 3 inches tall below the toilet, glue hanging down an inch or more traps the TP and solids. I guess we will see what happens this time.

It's sure not fun at a CG without sewer hookups where the honey wagon only comes around once a week and your tank plugs up right after it left.

I'd guess it would be the disc that was cut out or a vent that collapsed into the black tank.

Ya, it doesn't really sound like a glue problem in the old unit. Unless it was a LOT of glue. Glue, in the location shown would have no effect on dumping the tank, or how fast the tank filled. Maybe level "gage" sensors ?

Excess glue from fittings was not your problem in last TT.

Sounds more like the 'cut-out disc' (installer cuts holes for vent, drain, dump lines) was not removed from tank and when you drained tank it got stuck in drain opening blocking off drain line.
Those discs have to be removed by hand.
