Electrical Breaker.

This spring a power surge or dip toasted our church organ.Insurance company totaled it and after a deduction they paid for a new organ. We had a surge protector installed but the spike still went through it.

Yesterday there was an electrical surge/glitch and it tripped a breaker to some wall receptacles and burnt the surge protector that was protecting our printer. After resetting the breaker the surge protector showed a green light indicating that there was power to it and that the surge protector was still functioning. We will replace the protector this week. The printer booted it properly and works fine.

I am aware of whole house surge protectors installed at the main breaker. The cost of a protector at the main breaker is cost prohibitive considering the size needed to protect the huge amount of breaker panels that branch off of it.

My question is: Would a ground fault circuit breaker at the panel that provides power to the electrical receptacles better help protect electronics? We will continue to use surge protectors but wondering if that extra measure would better help our electronics.

We are using high quality surge protectors purchased from our printer provider.
