30amps is a lot to expect from a cigarette lighter socket
who said i planned to run it at full load?
Valid point.
My laptop has a 240 watt charger, too much to run through a cigarette lighter. I always assume worst case usage when hooking something up.
Gordon,
You might be surprised, i sure was, i actually checked my meters (thought they were broke), i ran this inverter and 2 laptops running a cpu burn in test (all cores maxed out) I NEVER broke 10amps dc, laptops were a t440s and a toshiba P775-S7215. At idle they were under 4 amps dc
Review is on Amazon, its the only one so far.:B I did a lot of tests. Slownsy wrote:
Victron makes same with British or Schuko.
I have on sitting in the shed in Australia as I missed that it was 110V and USA plug and I needed 240V for my fridge, hardly worth returning for $50.

https://www.invertersupply.com- pianotunaNomad IIIDid you try the fridge on 120 volt? The fridge is, after all, only a heating unit.

Frank. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi Richard,
The Victron is PSW.
The Harbor Freight is useful, until you wish to run devices that have dedicated computer chips in them. Then the inverter survives, but the device being powered may let out the magic blue smoke.
That said, I used an MSW for several years before I could afford a large PSW unit.
The Victron will replace a 400 watt Canadian Tire MSW that has served me well. I've had the CT unit since 1998. It cost more than the Victron LOL!RLS7201 wrote:
Don,
I keep looking but don't see weather the inverter is PSW or modified SW.
Wouldn't this inverter from Harbor Freight, also be of good value?
I've had the 750 from HF on line for 3 or 4 years, with no failure.

Hi folks,
I find this an amazing deal at 90 bucks. I purchased one and it is double the weight of the inverter I was using before.

agreed, i usually design the same way, you can get about 100-130 watts off the cigarette.
my MSW vector came with both cables.not sure why i even bought this lol, although i have been looking at that go power for a while - landyacht318ExplorerHeck, 5 amps is too much for most ciggy plug designs.
They make for a detestable electrical connection.
Everything runs better when they are removed from the circuit.
I've been happy with a Wagan elite 400 watt PSW. I've watched it provide 435 watts continuously. Very small size.
It comes with a ciggy plug, but says not for use with more than 120 watts. I'd halve that number.
