hard wired my converter in but not sure of polarity

Alternating current can be wired either way. Direct current must be wired polarity specific. That noted you are best to follow polarity, black to breaker, white to ground bus.

Well I changed the wires so all is good in the world. Thanks again! All though I am pretty sure things would have been groovy reversed I thought what the heck it would be totally out of sight to have it just right!

If it were I wiring it, no, it won't cause any harm. Others, maybe.

I guess that's a confusing way of saying no, it wouldn't bother me to leave it 'reversed' at all.

It should not cause a problem with MOST converters. However if you wish to be sure grab your friendly Multi-Meter... Disconnect one of the black wires, Then using the meter see which blade it fits on the outlet.

Now, visualize the outlet... The WIDE slot (The wide blade if the plug has a wide one) is the WHITE wire. Easy to remember (W)ide (W)hite.

Yep I screwed that up, as you said the blue and the white are the 12 volt DC. I should have said the original black and white wires were wired correctly from the breaker and neutral bar. Now the only thing wired wrong is the polarity going into the converter on the 120v. But I am going to change that just curious will it actually cause any harm.

No, in this case everything is wired correctly except the polarity is switched going into the converter only. On my 7345 there was a blue positive and white neutral with no ground. I grounded my new converter to old magnatek ground as well as the ground wire from the cord. This is from my phone so probably kind screwed up!

The 7300 120v input has only two wires, black and white, no green. Black comes from the breaker and white on the neutral buss with the rest of the 120v whites.

On some/many/all 7300s the converter shares its breaker with the receptacle circuit breaker -two black wires from that breaker.

So the question is what happens if the new (or the original) converter's black and white input wires are reversed so the white is on the breaker and the black is on the neutral buss.

Will the rest of the 120s even notice? Will the receptacles' GFCIs be affected? Will the converter itself notice? (apparently it runs ok. Old two prong plugs didn't matter which way you plugged them in)

Not really if the wire goes only to the convertor because all it is a glorified transformer and battery charger. But if it ( the cord) fed any outlets or lights the wrong polaraty could create a shock hazard.

Well I took my old eyes out there and checked for ribs and markings and found both. Which shows me I reversed the polarity!! I will be correcting that. I am still curious if someone can answer the question of whether or not it makes a difference in this situation.
