Of all the RVs any of you know of, how many of them have easy access to the transfer switch to check those wire connections.
Ours is inside a cabinet beside the bed & I have looked it over, probably will have to take the whole bedroom apart just to get to that box, or, maybe I could hire an Elf from the north pole small enough to climb up in the cabinet.

Current & prior 93 Pace Arrow Diesel Pusher I could get into the Xfer switch w/o a problem. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIJust one of the reasons I got rid of transfer switch completely.
Went to a manual switch.......mechanically interlocked so that only one source can be energized at a time. And repair parts........ha! Available at any hardware store for $12 or so. - C-Leigh_RacingExplorerOf all the RVs any of you know of, how many of them have easy access to the transfer switch to check those wire connections.

Neil - mcheroExplorerYet another reason one should occasionally check the connections in the transfer switch as well as the 120vac panels. I found a loose connection in the 120VAC panel in the Pace, was slightly brown, and starting to heat up!
I'll have to check the 07 Discovery today! - BobboExplorer IIThat makes sense.
Yet another example of why I am glad my RV doesn't have a transfer switch. I have to manually plug the RV into an outlet that the generator powers. - wolfe10Explorer

Now I see how it could happen. The shore power hot and generator power hot are out of phase to each other creating the 220 volt because one did no open as required.
So here is what happened. 50 amp service, cord is hard wired into the transfer switch. Wires inside the transfer switch loosened at the post and shorted together. Vehicle will power up with generator but not shore power. Vehicle is unpluged and he is running off of battery power (with a charger on the batteries) enough to keep the heat on and hot water. He will have the new transfer switch by Tuesday (obsolete but found one on Ebay) and it will be installed on Thursday by the professional who diagnosed it. TV and Microwave appear to be the only victims. Thanks again! Buddha
OR, inside the ATS one of the hots shorted to the neutral.
As I have posted for years, it is an excellent idea to check the tightness of all connections in the ATS and breaker box as part of the annual inspection. - john_betExplorer II

- BuddhacampExplorerP.S. the post has been checked out and is in working order.
