Honda 1000 will it charge my batts

A too much capacity generator is a lot easier to deal with than one that almost but not quite carries a load.

Heres what I can tell you for sure,....
My eu1000 would trip out on a PD9155 running full 55 amps...I had to grab a lower gear on the wizard.
It works hard for a few minutes on a PD9245 running full 45 amps, but doesn't trip out.

If you change out to a PD 45 amp, the 1000 will do it, and still be much faster than the WFCO

If you change out to a PD9260 w/ pendant, you will still be ok w/ the 1000, but you may have to drop a gear on the pendant for 5 minutes,... if the batteries get very low.

Considering the weight and size difference, I'd choose the 1000 if possible.

Just idle the truck for an hour. To shorten charging time add a 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter and use that to power the existing converter.

I was not aware that bluesky made a pwm charge controller. If it were mppt and you have more than one panel you might consider putting them in series.

I have a 300 watt solar system with a bluesky 30 amp pwm controller which I set the absorption voltage to 14.8. I have 2 trojan t-105. Reason for wanting a generator is to get through 3 nights of camping in winter time. Ideally I'd like to only have to run it a couple hours a day. My battery usage is low. The furnace is biggest sucker of batteries (0-6deg Celsius outside in winter). Unfortunately the solar does nothing for me in winter months as it is usually dark clouds or trees will block out sun.

Don't let the batteries get to low. Run the generator on high speed. That is to say, do not use the Economy mode to start off. Be sure the refer and hot water heater are on propane. You will hear the generator working hard if the batteries are low. After 30 minutes go ahead and push the Economy button. If the generator does not slow down it is still charging hard. Eventually you will hear it slow down and that will give you a bit of sense of the state of charge.

Run for a couple hours in the morning and a couple in the evening. As suggested, a decent size solar panel is a big help.

I have used the 1000W honda on my 40 foot diesel pusher. I can turn the charging system way down but using the quiet honda is nice versus the onboard generator. Put the generator behind a tree or a box with the exhaust pointed away for better noise reduction.

I was told it was a 50 amp but I just went and looked and it is a 55amp charger. 8955PEC is model. I guess way more then what a 1000 watt can handle. When you say it won't do boost or float are you saying that it can't charge at near 50 amps? I never plug in this rv I let the solar charger do the battery charging at home (zero shade) my concern is near dead batteries after 2 nights of furnace use in winter with sun so low our trees around here block all sun. I guess the 2000 watt is the better choice.

No one in their right mind would attempt to fully charge a battery bank by running a generator, unless they have no choice. Acceptance rate becomes about 12.5 amps per 100 amp-hours of storage at 85% state of charge. Most folks charge from 50% to 80% and call it good. Then when they have shore power the bank gets fully charged.

Have you looked into used 2000's? When/where I was looking, there were a lot of them on the market at about $US 800-850.

The eu1000i is rated in VA, not watts.

55 amps x 14.4 volts / 0.8 efficiency / 0.7 power factor = 1,414 VA,

which is why and eu2000i is good only for a 60 amp converter. An 80 amp converter running full blast is above its capability.
