How many batteries?

A PD converter will go into boost very easily. I have never had mine not go into boost well before 50% with by 2 6 volts.

LOL! I TOTALLY missed this one! Oddly, the resemblance is striking.

I just researched the threads from 2011 that I started to get the information to do the install. In one of the threads I stated that I had 15 feet of positive and 9 feet of negative (which went to the frame).

To be honest, The PD 91/9200 series does not really do bulk (Boost) that much take a look at the voltage out on both boost/bulk and absorption It is VOLTAGE that generates the "Pressure" that pushes the charge into the battery. Think about this, and you will stop worrying.

I have 2 group 24 batteries. I am running, if I remember correctly, about 13 feet of hot wire and 6 feet of ground wire that then attaches to the frame.

Would I have been better off with a 45 amp PD converter? Too late now.

These batteries are now 6 years old. When they need replacing I am planning on a pair of 6 volt GC batteries.

55 amps is 30 percent of what. 180 amps, that is two group 27 or better, one pair of GC-2. The limiting factor is the 4GA wire, how long is it?

Figure you need at least 3 times as many amp hours (At the 20 hour rate) as you have converter.

Not quite. Yes for sure if you force boost with the CW. Not so sure if you let it act on its own. Perhaps you could run a test on that as a follow-up?

With test result please also add how long those #4 wires are and if pos and neg both all wire or if neg is part via frame, as can affect what the converter "sees"

A 55amp charger will start to taper from constant 55 amps at 72% SOC on a 220AH bank at 14v. 72% of 220 is 158, but the PD goes to 14.4, so add a bit, so my est is 170ish. However it will taper right away.

With a Charge Wizard answer is, one battery. :)

OK. Since the PD4655V has the charge wizard built in, and I have about 168 amp hours of battery, I am good.
