HWH Level Sensing Unit

Recently the right side amber light on the control pad for the HWH levelers continues to light even when the coach is level. I used a carpenter's level front to back and side to side to confirm the unit was level, but the light remains on. I also crawled under the coach and pressed up and down on the unit and this did not affect the light.
Are these sensing units prone to failure? I called HWH and was told it would be weeks before I could talk to a tech. I do know that the old mercury units have been replaced by electronic ones. Any info would be appreciated.

The level sensor came with the jacks. There are four amber lights for each side of the vehicle on the control pad. When you park, the objective is to lower the jacks until all the light are out. Then it is level.
The unit is rectangular with three adjusting screws that have springs over them. Even when I moved the unit up and down, it had no affect on the light. Also that light seems to stay on even when I know that the coach is high on the right side.
I have the 310/325 Series Leveling System Touch Panel-Controlled.

The sensing unit you describe is the one that HWH had problems with and they replaced it with another design. E mail, do not call, HWH and ask them for the current P/n and price for the replacement sensing unit. Is there a AP number on that sensing unit? There should be. That will help determine the new replacement. You may have to take it loose to get the AP number. Does this link help? Doug

Years ago I was told by HWH that the leveling sensor unit was purchased and installed separately by the coach manufacturer and was not an HWH provided part. My sensor is the size of a coffee mug, but only 1/2 inch deep and mounted upside down. It has three screws to adjust the level.

On my 1993 system, the light is to show the jack hasn't fully retracted. Could that be what your light indicates?

I have worked on and installed HWH from 1986 to current. HWH has ALWAYS supplied the Level sensor. They have NEVER used an after market connected to their system. Yes, the level sensor was installed by the OEM, but WAS supplied by HWH. NOW, for the past 10 years or so, the level sensor is integrated into the Control panel and not mounted separately. RED is jack down and yellow is level He stated he had an amber light. Doug

  • WHICH sensor do you have???? The round Mercury or the newer black square sensor?. Is your unit the 1992 model? Either the Sensor is bad or you have the sensor wire harness wire shorted out between the sensor and the control module. Doug
