LACK OF FLUID IN THE JACK SYSTEM WILL NOT CAUSE RETRACTION PROBLEMS ON SPRING ASSISTED RETRACTION JACKS. I do NOT understand why people think lack of fluid will cause retraction problems. ONLY if you have Power DOWN and Power UP will lack of fluid may cause retraction problems. The OP could have Powergear/RVA/HWH jacks. The OP needs to look at his Dash Control panel and the system will state what brand. Until he posts what brand jacks NOBODY can give him any help at all. Doug
MOST jack systems use standard Dextron 2/3 ATF. HWH fluid is Dextron without the red dye added. NO jack system uses Hydraulic fluid.

i have sprayed my jacks/levelers, with silicone and with jb88 ?

the reservoir on our 95 safari in in the same bay (right rear) as the tranny dipstick, oil dipstick, remote engine start, fuel filter etc..

it will be labeled HYDRAULICS, it use Dex-tron ATF fluid

you have to check the fluid with the jacks RETRACTED full up, Not down
if you add fluid to full when down, it will spill over/come out as over flow when you raise the jacks

Whenever you find the fluid tank, be sure that the jacks are retracted before checking the fluid level.

Ours has springs and we have to add ATF. Ours is Power Gear. Ours has an alarm that sounds if it's low, and it does not have to be very low for that alarm to go off. Not all units have the alarm though. Our reservoir is back by our generator.

What jacks do you have? it should say by the power pad.

Most of the jack systems I have seen do not recommend spraying with silicone lubricant. Most recommend white lithium spray instead. I use whichever I have handy. I use the silicone or WD40 spray to wash off any dirt or gravel, then a good coating of white lithium spray to finish up. WD40 is more of a solvent, and is good for cleaning things up.

HWH can use Dextron power steering fluid, if HWH fluid is not available. HWH system fluid is available at many RV dealers, or can be shipped direct from HWH.

With springs, it is probably an HWH system. When you put the jacks down, listen closely and you should be able to hear the pump running. Then look around in that area for the pump and tank. I know nothing about your model, but up under the fender in front of the front wheel is a good guess. Not coming up is a common problem on HWH jack systems, but fluid is not your problem, as with those, the pump is not used to retract the jacks. You probably need a new set of springs, And someone to replace them. It is not difficult, but not a novice job. The springs are very strong, and under a lot of tension. A novice can get severely injured or killed trying to replace them. No one is trying to force you to a shop, because you can replace them if you want to try. That just what owning a motor home is about. Up to you. Another option is to go the the repair facility in Iowa. They do a good job.
