- crcrExplorerTry silicone tape, only sticks to itself, stretches to conform, no sticky adhesive squishing out over time. Great stuff. Comes in several colors, I have black and orange. I use it for electrical and various and sundry other uses. The black foam on my RV entry handle was deteriorating, so I covered it with black silicone tape. Worked great!

Your replies, opinions, and recommendations BORED ME into visiting the 3M website where 3M recommends using Liquid Electrical Tape overlayed with SkotchKote. I just ordered a QUART of each, which seems to be more amusing than twiddling my thumbs.

Oh goodie! This must mean you are panting with anticipation at the thought of coming down here and helping me fight a few hundred electrical connections gone green from tropical seashore corrosion. Bring some wire brushes and a vat of Ben-Gay cause you're gonna need them. - brulazExplorerMy heavy-duty electrical splice consists of soldered wires covered in Liquid Tape and all that covered in heat shrink tubing which is shrunk down while the Liquid Tape is still liquid.
Can be messy though, you don't need a lot of Liquid Electrical tape. - cmarqExplorerI have used liquid elec tape for years snow removal equip., marine and rv lasts for years. The nice thing is if you coat terminals with it you can peel off in the future the remove the screws,
- ctpresExplorerI have been using liquid tape to coat steel screw heads exposed to occasional water/moisture with great success. Also using it to seal the smaller holes. Great stuff for the small toolbox.
- HTElectricalExplorerScotchkote is better for outdoor and harsh environments. Liquid Tape, looks better, doesn't work as well.
- tvman44ExplorerI used to use the black 3M stuff on towers where it was exposed to rain and sunlight 365 days a year and it lasted for years. In fact when I would cut open a splice that was several years old the connectors were still bright and shiny as the day installed. :)
- Ductape_DaveExplorerI've been using liquid electrical tape for about 10 years and never had a problem with it. Works great sealing out anything.
- FishermanExplorerI used some on the ends of the battery cables about 6-7 years ago and it's still holding up just fine.
