Magic Chef OTR Microwave Leaked Magic Smoke

All my magic microwave smoke leaked out of my 22" Magic Chef microwave over my stove this weekend.
Control panel stills works just fine, but no heating effect left, so I must assume it's the high voltage components and therefore terminal.

Looks like I will have to build in a counter top unit.
Has anyone purchased either the Sharp R820BK combo convection/microwave unit or the Contoure CMC11040B combo microwave/convection unit both offered by PPL Motorhomes.
I would like to know how well they work built into cabinetry. I will provide cooling openings in the sides and will fabricate ducts to direct heat out the rear of the new unit towards the original wall-vent that vented the OE OTR microwave.

    No that's funny!:B
I used to repair English sports cars in a prior life as well and could have used that Lucas item many times for burn't harness wiring because I also saw lots of examples of smoke escaping.

As an update to my original post.

I got lucky! I found a retired appliance tech that had an exact fit brand new NOS magnetron and we were able to repair the microwave.
    No cabinet rebuild necessary.
  • Do you boondock or otherwise run the micro/convection via an inverter from your batteries? Is so you might want to consider a Panasonic inverter model. ("inverter" in this case refers to the circuitry the microwave uses to produce and reduce power and has nothing to do with the inverter supplying 120 VAC from the batteries.)

The Panasonic Inverter ovens reduce the power to the magnetron rather than allow the unit to draw full power and pulse it on and off. Much better for the batteries. They are also much more efficient.

Here is an explanatory link from their Canadian pages. I'm sure you can find the US equivalent.
