I know you can limit the input amps, if and only if you have a remote control. I'm not sure at all about output. It is early days.
I was able to use the water heater today as I drove down the road. Max draw from the alternator was 42 amps. The heater was off from 5:30 am until 9:30 so it was more than the usual 15 minutes to cycle. It took about 30 minutes.
The solar by noon was sending energy back to the engine.
