Yes, I put mine to 14.8 when it was too slow at 14.6. I was just looking at alternatives for the OP since he was wanting his to go to Float and the modified PM3 won't.

The OP was also looking at the power supply Mex was showing us, so he is in 'research mode' I guess.

The OP is also getting solar, so he can find higher voltages there if he gets an adjustable voltage controller. Can follow some gen time with some solar time if the weatherman allows.

I use several different chargers in different circumstances to get there. None of them is able to "do it all."

BFL I sure wouldn't want to be stuck with only one charging source that has a top end of 14.4 volts.
The supplemental chargers should be employed when on generator power. Do a check on a 4 battery bank and see the amperage differential between 14.4 and 14.8 volts.

I am not up on the prices, but the OP might get the job done with a WFCO 98100 like Mr Wiz has. It does 14.4 but it has a boost button, so it can be kept at 14.4 as long as you want and it will do Float too, which seems to be what the OP wants as well.

I'd run the 100a pfc on my 2000i if it was just for a few hours, on the odd occasion, and probably at a lower V to be safe, but not for daily use.

I've been twiddling my little blue pot for weeks now, with no problems. And to do those 15.2v top charges I mentioned... that's cranked up full for several hours.

Can't say about durability except about the thermistor business as posted earlier. I have had my PM3-100 for about three years now.

If you are worried, then you can always get the same thing by buying a one of the new adjustables from Randy or PowerMax itself if Randy doesn't have access to other sizes besides the three he shows (there was some hint that he can get you an adjustable 100 for about $275 was it?) --yipes-- but then you do get a three year warranty.

Or you can risk $160 and get the old PM3-100 and modify it. I think a PF corrected 100 will run on a Honda 2000 but maybe not. Must be close to max. A 75 would.

If the incoming VA add up to be more than design specification I would check with the manufacturer.

I don't know how it does it :) The procedure is to plug it in on bench no load with multimeter in the output. You will see it says 13.6. turn that up to 14.8. put the lid back on. done.

Now when you start the recharge from any SOC , it will bring the battery voltage up to 14.8 (Bulk Stage) and then it stays at 14.8 while amps taper. (Absorption Stage) that's it.

I don't know if it will ever float after a long time at 14.8, since I never leave on that long. I suspect all the voltages will rise when you crank up the pot. On the Paramode, which also has that internal pot, when I cranked that up to 14.8 (from 14.2) it also raised the float voltage from 13.6 to 14something, forget number.

Well that sounds ideal for a fast genset charger. Is there a question about the durability, then?
