MotoMaster 1000 Watt pure sine wave Inverter sale this Fri

For the Canadian RV people here. Canadian Tire will be having a sale on their 1000 Watt pure sine wave inverter. The sale price is $159.99 which is the best sale price I have seen all year.

Although I already have a good working inverter and don't have a lot of power requirements, I will be purchasing this inverter as a backup.

  • I have had this inverter for 3+ years and have been very pleased with it, it has even started up and ran my 7000 btu Dometic air conditioner for a short time as a test, this was with new AGM 31 batts.. I also use it to run a 700 watt microwave. It also has very low standby amp. draw of .36 IIRC.

Just to add there is a in store clearance special at some Canadian tire stores of 2x 100 watt (200 watt total) Coleman solar panels for $369.00 can. plus taxes. Good solar panel prices for up here in Canada.
  • Just spent a week using one of these things down in the Everglades. Have been using it successfully for the last 2 years.

Got it up to 950W boiling up some water outside. It made a lot of fan noise and got hot but did it.

Can't really use anything bigger without upgrading my battery bank 'cause of voltage drop (short 1/0 cables are ok). This inverter starts whining at ~11.6V.
  • We are permanent boondocking, and use it whole house.
Max draw for us is 500 watts for coffeemaker....

A couple of years ago I decided that although we normally camp on electric sites it would be handy on those occasions when we lose campsite power (for whatever reason) to still be able to use a few select 120 vac appliances - fans, coffee maker, toaster, and most importantly my wife's hair dryer. :W After looking long and hard it became apparent there just weren't any sub $200 PSW inverters of reasonable quality selling here in Canada except for this Canadian Tire 1000 watt PSW inverter which on sale has typically has been $199 + tax ... at $160 + tax it's a steal! I've had mine for two seasons now, installed it in my trailer's front pass through storage compartment, and wired it to dedicated receptacles in the trailer. We don't use it often but those few times each year we lose campsite power it sure is handy to not have to do anything but turn it on with the remote switch located inside the camper and be able to make coffee or toast just as we normally would. Pics of this Canadian Tire PSW inverter installation are in my gallery for anyone interested. :)

I ended up with two Power Inverters... One 1500W PSW and the other 600W PSW...

I ocassionaly plug my trailer into the 1500WATT to power up the receptacles and all (Poor man transfer switch). Too small to run the whole trailer.

I leave my 600WATT PSW connected up to two separate multi-tap extension cords with one located near the home entertainment items and the other one back on the night table area for all of my small chargers another important thing I like to use alot... I call this one my work horse...

I run it at 22-25AMPs DC current alot when camping...

For my ops I think the 600WATT PSW is the perfect size for me. Got it for $150 a few years back from AMAZON.

  • Hi 2oldman,

Mine did 980 watts while running my induction cooker while I was waiting for the replacement from Magnum.

Their 3000 watt MSW is also on sale at the same time.

    Can it really do 1000w?

Yes. Mine did. It actually ran at 1050w a few times, showing its overload light each time, but then it fried some components when I kept doing that. (RIP)

Lesson is to not push it so hard. It was quite happy running a kettle at 900w. (Of course you don't need PSW to run a kettle.)

Northern Tools (sp?) has the same inverter in their line-up. Can Tire and NT must get them from the same place in China.
  • I have one as well, almost tempted to buy one as a backup at that price.
