I TRULY APPRECIATED IT . - BFL13Explorer IIIf the pin won't go back in use a bigger hammer :) Turn it 90 degrees and try that way. Otherwise, as said above, disconnect the wire for that going to the positive battery post.
Likely, the 7-pin will then still be able to work the brakes through the blue wire, but the breakaway won't work. Not legal to travel like that with no breakaway brakes.
With our fifth wheel, it is easier to use a dog leash in one of the truck bed eyepads to connect the breakaway wire to. This gives lots of slack to allow turns without tangling the short wire from the kingpin and pulling out the switch pin. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIILook inside switch and check the contacts....make sure they are not bent.
Some pins/switches have one way pin can go back in.
So check for any slots/guides.
Pin pushes contacts open and can be snug.
If broken......disconnect wires on switch (so switch is isolated from tow vehicle and trailer battery) and then replace with a new emergency brake switch - GdetrailerExplorer IIIIf the plastic plunger pulled out you simply can push the plunger back in.
The plunger however only goes in a specific way, you will need to rotate the plunger and try again until it latches in.
If the cable broke then you just need to buy a new cable/plunger which can be found at any RV parts dealer or even some auto parts places or try a Uhaul.
If the plastic top of the plunger where the cable connects broke then you will need to buy a new plunger and cable. - carpetguy2ExplorerCable not broke tried to push the pin in .don't seem easy to do though
- sch911ExplorerIt can be pushed back in. When it's pulled out your trailer brakes are applied. So get it back in quickly. If you can't then disconnect the TT's battery before any damage to the magnets occurs, or your battery dies....
