Welcome to the Forums! :)
Is your RV 30A or 50A?
Is/was your hot tub circuit 240V/50A?
If your rig is 50A and the hot tub is 50A, then it's pretty straight forward. In fact, the plug of the motorhome might fit into the receptacle of the hot tub.
If your rig is 30A, then you'll use just one of the hots on the 240 V service, the neutral and the ground. You should change the breakers accordingly back in the panel.
It's not rocket science. If you've done wiring before, you should be able to do this. If what I said above doesn't make any sense, then perhaps you should hire someone who has experience with RV wiring.
Just remember: 50A RV's are 120V/240VAC (just like a standard electric range outlet), 30A RV's are 120VAC only!!!
Good Luck,
~Rick - old_guyExplorerI used the spot I had used for my water well, it was 240V for my hot tub and my neighbor electrician came over and adapted it to 120v 30 amp for me. works great, runs every thing in the TT even the AC.
- KD4UPLExplorer IIYes, you can use it. I've never yet seen a 240v hot tub circuit that didn't have a neutral. But, verify there's a white wire in there along with the ground and 2 hots.
Are you installing a 30A or a 50A RV outlet? If a 30 amp then you'll connect to ONE hot wire and the neutral. If a 50A you'll use BOTH hot wires and the neutral. In both cases you will, or course, also use the ground. So yes, a 50A RV outlet does infact have 240v despite what some people will lead you to believe.
I would get an electrician to at least check your work. If you get it wrong you could destroy some or all of the electronics in your RV. - ScottGNomadYou absolutely can just as Brian describes above.
Spa circuits are usually 50A 240V just like the 50A supply bigger RV's use and always have a neutral for 120V function of the electronics. I would rewire it with a common range receptacle (like 50A RV's use) and then plug a 30A adapter into that to power your RV. - VintageRacerExplorerMaybe. If you have to ask the question, then you need to hire an electrician to help you, sorry. Often a hot tub will have a neutral wire that lets you use the the 240VAC for two 120VAC feeds as you would need for an RV plug connection, but you need to know for sure. Best thing is really to get someone who is qualified to look and see what you have.
Brian - K_CharlesExplorerYes you can BUT, if you need to ask then you need an electrician and he needs to know what he's doing.
- 30 amp or 50 amp RV?
Does the circuit have a neutral?
Do you still use the circuit for the hot tub?
