new AC compressor noisy, normal when new?

I replaced our country coach RV Products 9024-876 with the manufacturer recommended airxcel coleman mach 8 47024a876. Specs of the units were the same (15k btu, heat pump, condensate pump, etc)

now that it is installed and buttoned up i notice the new compressor can be heard in the coach. It is not obnoxiously loud but i can hear a "pulsing sound" from the compressor. When on the roof I would consider the sound to be normal.. but it is unfortunate that it has worked its way into the coach. The other 2 units (3 total in coach) are super quiet-- you just hear the fan and you can only hear the compressor when it kicks in (we usually keep the fans running 24 hours)

Does the compressor "break-in" and start to get quiet after a while? I noticed the old unit had a lot of rubber mounts (like they were absorbing the vibration)..

I probably will live with it if this is how it is but it a little unfortunate as I was hoping to replace the other 2 AC units with the same but now i would hate to have all 3 making this annoying pulsing sound.
  • There have been many complaints about the Mach 8's. Outside noise, inside noise, fan blade failure, motor mount failure, etc. I know that some have placed wedges under the base to help with the inside noise.

IMHO, EVERY ONE of the Mach 8's should be recalled. Simply not reliable. I know of several owners that are on their third unit in less than three years.
  • No, there is NO break in period for a Compressor. The Mach 8 the other poster talked about was NOT a compressor noise but the Condenser Fan blade noise the early Mach 8 had, that sounded like a jet engine on the outside, not on the inside. Doug
  • Here is a thread complaining about the Mach 8:
    Noise

I wonder if you were sold old stock.
