No heat or AC from motor vents

Another KUDO for Winnebago! Their outstanding availability of Information and Parts adds significant value to their products, and peace of mind for owners.

I use an auto-reset circuit breaker in my test wires. That way I get a few chances to find the problem.

Issue fixed! After pulling the motor & fan out, we bench tested it with no result so ordered up a new motor from Winnebago. It also required an updated plugin that was different from the original and they knew that and sent it along. It came in 4 days. It was easy to plugin to the old wires and it worked right away, solving the problem. Heat, vent, and defrost now blow out of the correct vents. I didn't seem to generate cold air from the AC, but I'll deal with that issue later. It appears that somehow the AC unit has been disconnected and is not working. When set to AC it blows air through the vents just fine, so the blower is completely operational now.

The fan motor was easy to pull out. It is right in front of where the passenger puts their feet. I unscrewed a carpeted vent panel that covered it and then unscrewed about 6 screws in the housing for the motor and it pulls out easily for replacing.

be sure you put a fuse on that test wire

10amps should be about right

if that motor is shorted out you don't want to melt any wires
could be the grd/neg side for the motor is missing , corroded or loose, or the motor is bad because the 'switched' side seems to be working
next time write down the voltage readings and post them

if using a digital meter
set it on the 20v scale and set it on VDC (volts DC) not VAC

try to find a good chassis/frame metal spot for the negative/blk lead
using the pos/red lead for the test readings

I'm not finding anywhere that either of those loose plugs would plug in.

I've disconnected the plug that goes into the fan motor and tried to test it with my multimeter. I am finding different reading when switching from off, to "vent" or "heat." However apparently I don't know how to use a multimeter because the numbers aren't making sense to me.

I suppose my next move might be to plug a 12 volt wire directly into the motor and see if that runs it. Any other advice?

if you mean the green wire, and the blue with red strip
i would say that is your power for the 'a/c-heater Blower'

the green might go to GRD/frame and the blue/red is the hot from the fuse marked heater

as for the FIRST picture
to me it looks like the blue line is just passing over (not connected) to the 'silver' A/C connector aka thread fitting, in fact it looks like the a/c line has been removed, i don't see any A/C tubing for the freon, just that threaded connector ..

I went through and examined some of the vacuum cords coming out of the back of the heater and didn't see anything that looked problematic. I couldn't find an inline fuse on the wire going to the fan motor. Would this be near the controls or near the motor? My next step will be to check voltage at the fan motor plugin when I get a voltmeter there.

Below is a picture of the wiring behind the controls. The one blue wire at the top is disconnected from something (not sure what) but it has a connector on it. And there is a non matching green wire seen just below it that is not connected to anything (difficult to see the connector at the top right of the picture). If you put those together, it blows the fuse that says "Heater" on it. Other than that, I'm not finding any terminals that look disconnected or problematic from the back of the control unit.

In your picture, lower left corner is a vacuum control. It is the round silver colored unit with the hose coming out at an angle. That one is used for heat/air conditioning. There should be another one under your dash for defrost/vents. And there may be a third one under the dash for the floor/face vents.

the 'push buttons' on the a/c-heat controls , operate the vacuum lines to control the 'flaps/dampers'

that bright blue line looks like plastic vacuum line

under the dash some place should be a vacuum pump and tiny vacuum reservoir

many RV's use std Chrysler model heater-a/c control buttons

It never worked for us. We just bought it and don't know the complete history. Previous owner did not indicate it worked but they only took it on one trip.
