Outdoor Router

I suggest you trash it and look up Ubiquiti stuff. They make some fantastic hardware both indoor and outdoor type. This includes both routers, clients (Wi-Fi Adapters) and Access Points (With an AP your router is indoors but the AP can be outdoors) Some of their hardware has extended range.. Up to 40 miles over clear ground. using like hardware on both ends.

Or, you could just call this the spam that it is and ignore it.

Well, you got two options here, you can throw it in a trash, or you can try to fix it like a normal router. If you don't know how to fix a router, well, you can PM me then and I think we will figure it out. Or you can try to fix this by yourself. I would keep the router inside for easy wifi connection to it. Run a short, permanent cable to an outside jack for an antenna. It could be permanently mounted on your car port or set on the roof at a campground. I would use a directional antenna to quadruple the signal strength.

Microwave propagation is a tricky subject. Some materials absorb others reflect. WiFi reaches your devices by line of sight and also by reflection. Aluminum siding is going to prevent line of sight but consider windows, the fiberglass door, possibly rubber or fiberglass roof, etc. Any opening that more than 12" across WiFi can fit through.

Well you know that there is NO possibility to receive signal in an aluminum trailer. I know because my aluminun foil hat blocks everything! :S

My aluminum trailer must be special. I have a heck of a time getting wifi inside it. It's right next to my house that is saturated with signal. I can sit in the back yard next to the trailer and surf the interwebs to my hearts content. But if I step in the trailer, it's a no go. The signal drops and it usually can't even maintain the connection unless I'm near a window. My cell phone can be cranky in there too.

Don't sweat the small stuff. All you need do is look at your available Wi-Fi's in your park while sitting in your rig and you will see that aluminum has little effect on your signal.

Heck all you're doing is the same thing that parks that offer free Wi-Fi are doing.

FWIW, I helped a guy in this park by simply adding a splitter at the post then running the router into his bay area. Works like a charm.
