X2, I installed a 10-2 cable with a 20 amp plug on one end, for the inverter, and a 30 amp RV receptacle on the other end so I could eliminate one of the adapters PLUS if I wanted to use the inverter on the road, I could.
It is amazing how many strange comments you get on this topic every time it comes up. Here's our system.
30A RV receptacle in the shore cord compartment
20A plug into inverter - jolooote:
I asked the same question. OP needs to see what the inverter feeds now. He may not have to do a thing! - BFL13Explorer II

I am sorry how I asked my question. What I meant was can I plug my shore power directly into my 2000 watt inverter, The inverter does not have a charger. I have a 75 amp converter, but I would have to turn it off along with electric water heater and put frig on L.p. So my question is with all that said can I just plug shore power cord into my inverter
yes .. just use the TWO adapters needed to get the correct plug
50 amp to 30 amp
30 amp to 15 amp
turn off appropriate items, then plug into the inverter - Rmcgrath53ExplorerLike Pianotuna said. But I would add, make sure your converter and Air Con breaker is off.Turn gas on fridge. I have a 2000 watt sine wave that a bunch of alarms went off, when the wife decided she needed air and Turned the thermostat down and I forgot to flip the breakers. ps on edit turn hotwater tank on gas also....
- mena661ExplorerYes, I also do this with my 300W inverter. Just turn off your converter and set your WH and fridge to gas.
- double post.
- crcrExplorerYes, that is eggzactly what I did. Works fine. I just don't run the AC or microwave when running off inverter (don't have near 2000 watts)

As has been described by Pianotuna, plugging in your shore power cable to your inverter to provide 120V AC to the entire RV usually works fine. That is what I do. One inverter I had would fault out when I tried it, though. My 1500W pure sine wave inverter would not run my 900W microwave. The MW pulls around 1300 VA and the inverter didn't handle it well and would shut down. A 2000W inverter could probably do it, though. I hope you have a lot of batteries if running the MW is a big deal. I'd say 4+ batteries needed to run the MW regularly or for minutes at a time.
A link to a thread of mine about trying to run my MW off of my inverter.
