I'm staying in a CG with 135 sites. Most seem to have power awnings and have them strapped to ground anchors - including me. Generally I see 1 or 2 getting repaired every week, because they have ripped loose from the RV due to being tied to the ground.
My awning warranty says tying the awning down will void the warranty, but what are you going to do? Without the old style horizontal arms, the roller won't keep the fabric stretched taunt in even mild wind let alone rain. I'd take the old style back anytime!
