Propane leak (smell )

This won't exactly find your leak but you might be able to glean some useful information.

Yes , there is an outlet for external bbq that i installed myself. It is located most forward. NO leaks there. Thanks Chris. I was planning to isolate each appliance today and see if that helps locate the problem.

Without an electronic sniffer, I unhook each appliance one by one and plug the line, then do a pressure drop leak test.

Do you have a connection for an outdoor grill in the line? Sounds like a problem somewhere in the line.

Keep hitting a wall. NO appliances on , ALL OFF and the smell is there after an hour or so.

Turn each appliance on 1 at a time with gas off - turn gas on - is there odor. Maybe you will at least find which one has the problem if you go thru one by one turning gas on/off until you pinpoint which one is one and you are smelling the propane. If all of them, then you will know it's a problem with tank, regulator or lines.

Appreciate all the suggestions. Doubtful bout the battery cause when i turn off propane bottle, odor goes away. Stove control knobs are a positive click to turn off so i think that can eliminate that. Tank was recently inspected and updated fill date and topped off with minimal use. Still feels heavy, for sure not empty. Will continue to search.. No, don't see any little red item as described. Heavy smell is in end of camper where hot water heater, fridge and stove are located.

Do you have one of the small red regulator valves in the propane line, typically in the propane compartment on the opposite side from the switch over regulator valve? Those often start to leak. And they will leak thru a small vent hole on the bottom (that I did not know was there at the time). Mine started leaking and even though I sprayed soapy water and leak detector all over it, there were no bubbles. And there were no bubbles from any of the connections. Finally took the red regulator off and there was an oily residue around the vent hole. Replaced the valve and no more propane odor.

Check the stove controls, they can get bumped easily.

I fill my propane at Suburban (commercial propane dealer) - when I had "leak" and couldn't find it with "bubbles" they spent 5 minutes and found/fixed and didn't charge me anything.
