Refrig stopped cooling

We have a 3 year old Atwood/Dometic refer in our 3 year old Grand Design. Worked perfect until Sunday when we arrived home from a trip. I noticed a liquid (guessing water) dripping directly under the frig. onto the driveway. All lights are on with the control panel face, fuses ok, temp set at the max but it stopped cooling in both elect and gas. Any ideas before I take it in?

Your refrigerator fins (upper back of fridge compartment) defrosted when the unit quit cooling. Open the lower vent cover, and you should see a flexible drain tube. Sounds like yours runs down out of the fridge compartment. On many, the drain is just poked through a louver on the vent cover.

Post the Model Number of this fridge and somebody may be able to help more. Also, Chris Bryant's website has service manuals, and those manuals have troubleshooting. bryantrv.com then select Service Manuals
  • You have an Atwood Helium absorption fridge (same as any other absorption fridge except it uses Helium Gas as part of coolant solution vs Hydrogen Gas used in the other ones)

    0601 is a 6 cu. ft fridge
    0801 is a 8 cu. ft. fridge

As mentioned water running down under RV is due to fridge defrosting because of 'not cooling'

When you stated " All lights are on with the control panel face,......"
Do you mean Check, Auto, Gas, AC & DC are ON????
If YES then that could indicate the 'high overtemp' thermal switch on burner stack OPENED shutting down both heat sources due to 'cooling unit' failure.

    How level is driveway?
    Was RV level during trip?

Remove outside lower access/vent panel and check for any 'yellowish' residue/powder around burner area/stack/flue

    Service Manual.....pg 1-6 Install & pg 7-10 Operation w/trouble codes
  • If the refer is in a slideout it will have a fan to cool the condenser (back of refer on the outside) Check to see if the fan is working.
